Oh well that's all right then. I suppose we don't even need to know WHY anyone would go out of their way to publicise it. :hmmm:

It is called "doxing". A technique used by activists <insert agenda here> to silence or censor critics of a contentious narrative by revealing to the world their location.
....
Is there some other reason why anyone would maintain a live update revealing the location of a parents child?
Is 'revealing' (something already publicly available) the location of an aircraft still 'doxing'?

It was Musk who made the leap from 'aircraft location' to 'daughter being threatened'.

It's hardly beyond the skills of a terrorist / nutter / assassin / kidnapper to look up where the aircraft (using Flight Radar) is and then work out the route from airport to home, then sit in wait, is it?

Or do you know of something else going on re Musk's daughter?

Screwdriver wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 12:22 pm No, I have no intention of reading it either.

We are both equally guilty of using selected quotes. I choose those which reveal this adult gay activist to be actively seeking to encourage minors, children, under 18's and so called, undefined and ambiguous "young adults" into Grindr.

Grindr is also something I only have vague knowledge of, enough to realise it is not a place for youngsters of any euphemism. How that places them into the hands of those adults who frequent Grindr with anything approaching "safety" you will have to explain. Seems well dodgy to me.

I do not call him anything since I only know what he has carefully worded but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

What does his PhD say about being more relaxed on the issue of child pornography? Genuine question.
No, not both of us. I've used the same quote that Musk used to demonise Roth, but added other quotes so's to not use it out of context. A 298 page thesis which mainly deals with lack of parental oversight, lack of service provider oversight and the laws that allow these providers to skirt their responsibilities, but all you're interested in is a few lines which mention the possibility of creating a safe environment for gay teens to connect in a safe environment.
I'll say it again, he was using Grindr as an example. You'd have known that, had you actually bothered to read the thesis, instead of regurgitating the nonsense you've read elsewhere. So much for never believing what the media tell you
Where was your outrage when, only a few weeks ago, Musk defended Roth as a man with 'high integrity'?
Musk suggested that Roth’s doctoral thesis about the LGBTQ dating app Grindr advocated for child sexualization when the opposite was true. Roth, who is openly gay, specifically stated that Grindr was not a safe space for minors and discussed how to create age-appropriate content and spaces for LGBTQ teens to connect online and through apps.

Musk’s misleading claims left Roth facing widespread online abuse, including on Twitter, where users hurled homophobic and antisemitic threats, memes and slurs at him. On Monday, Roth reportedly moved out of his home due to threats following Musk’s baseless accusations about him.

I make no secret of the fact that I have selected those parts of this chaps thoughts that I strongly disagree with.

On the other hand, you appear to be comfortable with a gay activist in a position of authority in the field of safety, encouraging young people (lets say) into Grindr. His life's mission one would suspect, even writing a PhD on the subject...

But I take your point. I have looked at the headlines only so my knee jerk reaction may be akin to say, objecting to free needles or free drugs for addicts. On the face of it a ridiculously bad idea, in reality (we are told) actually has a positive effect. Too complex for a layman like me so I can only react to my gut feeling. There needs to be some level of trust.

My gut feeling tells me that the sub-selection of quotes and précis of the oeuvre of his work "protecting" children and "young adults" should at least ring alarm bells. Depends which way you look at it, looks to me like a fox among the chickens.

On that basis, 'Childline' & the NSPCC had better watch what they say.

They say things like:
Childline is here to help anyone under 19
&
Whatever problems or dangers they face, we give them somewhere to turn to for support when they need it.

So, on the basis of your words:
"protecting" children and "young adults" should at least ring alarm bells.

I guess when you start editing my comments down the last word, you can bend it to say anything. Your logic is also nonsensical.

I'll be honest mate, I can't be bothered to respond to such overt misrepresentation of the point I was making since my actual words clearly refute your careful editing.

Edited down so the post didn't take an entire page.

Have you found anything about Musk's daughter yet?

That is quite obviously a lie. You edited it to suit your narrative. My actual point is still there for all to see.

I refer to the oeuvre of this persons work, especially the Twitter files which demonstrate to me he is clearly obsessed with sex and dragging people into Grindr. The younger the better. Yes I did skim read his PhD which reads like an advert for Grindr. My opinion of him has not changed.

But back to the more damaging Twitter files.

Image

Perhaps you can edit that to have some alternate meaning. Maybe you'll come up with a clever spin, an excuse for why this chap seems so interested in youngsters.

We can either agree to disagree or you can ask me to put you on ignore. I am not arguing with anyone so keen on defending obsessive sex pests. Up until a few minutes ago I thought an otter was an aquatic mammal Not to this sick pervert. Go find the rest of his crap yourself, I'm done with this.

I dare not discuss anything further on this particular topic anyway since it will inevitably end up with this thread being locked.

No, absolute truth. It really annoys me when people quote entire lengthy posts.

Edit: just realised the irony that, on a thread about truth and facts, you're calling me a liar :)

If there is, fair enough, I'll agree that Twitter was right to ban them . If not, perhaps you could just say "I over-reacted" or something like "they made a mistake"?

It is done now. I am often accused of being obsessed by a particular topic. People forget that also means I will have probably dug a lot deeper, for a lot longer than most and not just parrot out the low hanging fruit being punted out by mainstream media.

As long as you’re willing to quote your sources. And as long as your sources don’t involve YouTube.

Though I cannot resists pointing out the rather obvious issue with doxing.

It's all very well to say "that information is out there" but even the most hardened nutjob is going to get bored scanning flight data to see if the current media villain is in their town.

Contrast that with the same ne'er do well hanging out on Twitter with their BLM/Antifa/<name your poison> chums on Twitter all day every day.

"Dang. That fucker is comin' to my town! Let's get the boys together and show him he's not welcome".

"Whoa, that little gurl of his sure is purdy..."

Is the logic of doxing vs. availability of information really that unintuitive? Surely the difference should be blindingly obvious?
