Re: Chief Twit
5 out of ten cats in the USA would disagree, if they were allowed to express an opinion.
Fact is, the entire mainstream media, big tech, social media etc. has been infiltrated and is run for the benefit of the left wing. This latest extraordinary revelation that Twitter was effectively being stage managed by the Democratic Party (yes there is a chain of command all the way to the government) is not to be dismissed lightly.
Why they do it is equally worrying. I believe it is a simple matter of “divide and conquer”. Keep the population so divided with divisive identity politics that they cannot come together and form an alliance against the real power which is of course increasingly not corrupt politicians but their equally corrupt corporate masters.

98% of facts are made up on the spot and should more accurately be re-categorised as 'opinion'.

Re: Chief Twit
The MSM would be ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN & Fox. All stations are affiliated with one of those (not so much CNN tho) & report the national/world news. We get 30 minutes of news from the actual local station & 30 minutes from ABC/NBC/CBS etc. The 17 minute number comes from their national feed to the affiliates.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:02 pm There must be dozens/hundreds of news outlets in the US. So did they all do like 5s each, or did one of them do 15 minutes or what?
I get that the point here is "the rest of the networks aren't covering it", but the figure of 17 mins seems both remarkably specific and hard to believe.
Ferinstance: One of my local stations pretty much has Musk news several times every day up until the first release of the Twitter Files. Both on the local 30 minutes & the national feed. Today the local news program actually reported on Musk again for the first time since that release... And it was about Tesla shares dropping so Musk is no longer the richest guy on the planet. No mention of the file release at all.
I'm surprised it was as high as 17 minutes.

Trust your GPS when you’re in the car?
Yes, of course debate should be allowed, but all opinions aren’t equal and lots of opinions can be easily dismissed.

Elon Musk says he is taking legal action against the holder of a Twitter account that tracks his private jet, arguing it put his son at risk.
The @ElonJet account, which has more than half a million followers, was suspended on Wednesday.
Its owner Jack Sweeney, 20, used publicly available flight-tracking information to tweet every time Mr Musk's jet took off and landed.

Re: Chief Twit
Musk bans account tracking his private jet, then twitter policy is updated to ban any live people tracking.
Also banned is publishing photos of anyone without their consent, I'm not sure he's thought this free speech thing through properly.

Re: Chief Twit
And:
Mr Sweeney ...
It comes after he confirmed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that the profile had been suspended.
That evening, Mr Sweeney's account appeared to have been reactivated. He tweeted: "Yes I am back!" Minutes later it was listed again as suspended. His personal account, @JxckSweeney, has also been frozen.

Fair enough. Anyone making tweets that could put someone's life at risk deserves to have their account removedHorse wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 7:34 am https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-63978323

Oh, wait...
Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of Trust and Safety, has been forced to flee his home after receiving death threats stemming from Elon Musk’s suggesting that Roth is a pedophile, CNN reported on Monday.

Like Trump?
Oh, wait...
Musk is just imposing his version of censorship in a pathetic attempt to level the playing field to his version of centrist. But oh look he can also censor and uncensor at will (assuming the FBI allow it) "stuff he doesn't like" based upon literally any criteria. "Safety" you say? Well, a lot of us would say it's a public interest issue - and stuff that "I reckon", my opinion on random shit, is going to save the world.

Yeah but Musk is rich so must be much more intelligent and far more able at social enterprise than us mere mortals!DefTrap wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 10:37 amLike Trump?

Re: Yoel Roth. Elon did not "accuse him" of or "suggest" anything, among the files Elon released en masse were the thoughts and posts from Yoel where he advocates methods for introducing children into the queer social landscape. Also rather than merely prevent children from being able to engage in Twitter, they could be passed on to Grindr.
Yoel wroth his thesis on the benefits of accepting child pornography.
There has to be a line drawn somewhere or do you suggest encouraging minors to "engage in the queer landscape" is acceptable? That is of course a rhetorical question I do not doubt you would be horrified if you knew the truth about that particular activist. Now you do.

I'm not for one moment suggesting he isn't able, clever, resourceful, hard-working, charitable, gracious, level-headed even - but he is powerful, you can do what you want when you're powerful, people listen to you and if they don't well you can just fecking well make them by purchasing Twitter. It's just another toy for him.

Doctors don't always agree as to the best treatment, GPS can direct you on to unsuitable roads.
Al Gore poses as an expert, he predicted several global warming tipping points that came and went without any noticeable tilt. He's not the only global warming "expert" to do this.
Professor Neil Ferguson poses as an expert, his computer model has been wrong more often than The Guardian.
Which "experts" should I put MY faith in? You can't trust all so-called experts, which experts do YOU trust?

I think the point is that it is a qualified opinion. I think it's a bit rude to put qualified doctors in the 'so-called expert' category just so that you can feel better about the right to voice your flat earth theory.

A certain Dr. Fauci springs to mind. Super well qualified, goes without saying he knows a vast amount more than most about medicine and vaccines, H&S, mRNA etc. etc.Saga Lout wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 11:27 am Doctors don't always agree as to the best treatment, GPS can direct you on to unsuitable roads.

But a lot of equally or perhaps even better qualified doctors strongly disagreed. Our own British Medical Journal tried to question the veracity of some of his statements about "the science", their comments were censored. The BMJ flagged as "disinformation". On stage when questioned by journalists about which direction we should follow the science, Fauci protested "I am the science". The very definition of an argument from authority because clearly there was a political agenda.
Many of the diktats supported by Fauci and implemented by the US administration turned out to be wrong or at least based on false premise. There are too many to list and they are still contentious now but the point is, actions based on "the science" should always be a debate and agreed by consensus. The actual scientific evidence itself therefore needs to be freely available so that we can all see for ourselves what the plan is and what evidence that strategy is based upon.
Instead, it has been wielded as a weapon to impose a political agenda.

I think the point is that there is always some sort of medical consensus, they're trying to ringfence it to legitimate areas of debate (because there's been an awful lot of bullshitting). This is good and reasonable.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:59 pm

You can use words such as "censorship", "weapon" and "political agenda" because they add something to your own agenda, but it just adds to the aggravation.
If you're going to make a list of US figures during COVID that need to stand up and be asked a few questions, then I suggest Fauci doesn't come anywhere near the top of the list - maybe better to focus on the infamous COVID bullshitters like Trump and other Republican governers who gave their opinion often and at length from a basis of knowing sweet FA. Fauci was being asked his (qualified) opinion 24-7 and in real time and against a moving background of data and impacts. What he wasn't doing was riffing on what-ifs? and maybe? bollocks about bleaching covid out of your veins.
