Trying to pay in €

Post by IOU0 »

Bought something from Italy for the XSR, obviously priced in €, but ebay seems insistant on me paying in £ and getting 1.03!
I have 2 euro accounts that i can use. Anyone know how I can get around a really crap exchange rate and use my own accounts?
Fwiw my ppal is in £, so a bit screwed there!

Who are the Eur accounts with? You should be able to make a payment out of either of the accounts if you have the beneficiary details, usually the receiving bank and the IBAN, though you can get away with the IBAN alone most times.

Doesn't ebay let you pay via credit card now a days as well as Paypal (they're dumping Paypal soon)?

I'd bung it on a Mastercard if you have one as that tracks closest to the official exchange rate.

Revolut and CA
Dont have iban of seller, just their ppal account (trade seller btw)
Problem with the revolut is there is a £ account on it as well as €, so ebay will draw it in £, so I will get a double exchange whammy.

I think Ebay lets you pay by card. As above Revolut gives you the bank rate on foreign exchange transactions. Just checked my Revolut app and it's 1.087, crap but a but better.

I use revolut for my day to day transactions and have enough € in there to cover the cost, however ebay will bill me in £, so the € i have will get bounced to £, then re exchanged at their rate.
Emailed the vendor hoping to get a direct payment.

Sign in to the 'local' ebay Ebay.it? and buy it from there.

Tried that, no joy!

Pulled the trigger and bought it through ppal and swallowed the £6
