I appreciate your point of view, but it is VERY out of date !
Again, your opinion is very out of date. No lifts close for lunch and the queues are fine, especially if you ski smart.Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:10 amUsed to ski in France every time. They also know how to remove your ski pass if they think you're going too fast. My current record on a snowboard is 110 kmh, I don't think they'd like me !Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:33 am You wanna try skiing in the US. They know how to get people up a mountain with minimum fuss

Maybe so, but it's a bit late now. They put me and the others in the group off, we went somewhere else and they lost us. Losing customers is really easy, getting them back isn't.Jody wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:49 amAgain, your opinion is very out of date. (The other thing about Canada (Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper + some of the places that UK travel agents don't tend to use) was we decided that it was a long flight for just a week so we'd go for two each time Prices for accommodation and food and drink seemed pretty good too).

Have been since to other French resorts - not out of date about the prices, poor service, and stinking toilets generally found.

Caviar's almost impossible to get since this beastly war started and one has to spend the money somehow.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:47 am So a thread about the cost of living crisis, and you're discussing ski holidays?

Better for your bowel health apparently, although the lack of a seat makes doing the Telegraph crossword more of a challenge.

Very efficient water-wise for those with a water meter. Particularly worthwhile during a cost of living crisis. Tricky to use in ski boots and a one-piece suit, (which can be quite warm casual wear if you're stuck at home with the heating turned down).
In Turkey they have half size baths with a little seat at one end. Not only a space saver but very efficient on water usage during a cost of living crisis.
Probably both are only made abroad though so prices have probably gone up during the cost of living crisis.
How's that for back on topic?

As an amusingly ironic side story, the staff at the Royal College of Nursing have been offered a 4.5% pay rise and now, as most are members of the GMB union, are threatening to walk out on strike, possibly thwarting the nurses' strike, who are demanding a 19.2% pay rise.
Ps. I have just been informed of my pay rise. It was some way off 19.2%, I can tell you.

They do all the admin for the RCN. Without them, they won't be able to organise the nurses' strike.JamJar wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 4:32 pmWhy would that thwart the nurses strike?gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 3:53 pm As an amusingly ironic side story, the staff at the Royal College of Nursing have been offered a 4.5% pay rise and now, as most are members of the GMB union, are threatening to walk out on strike, possibly thwarting the nurses' strike, who are demanding a 19.2% pay rise.

Standing around getting cold and being abused drunks and louts sounds too much like doing a night shift in A&E.
