LOL! You're not even allowed to have non-aviation spec hardware in the hangar in case some doofus uses it on an aircraft...
Altho it does happen. There was a Reno Unlimited crash years ago when one of the flaps suddenly closed causing it to snap roll into the dirt on final to a runway. Some twat had used Chevy suspension/steering parts on the flap doodads & one sheared
