At the time I wasn’t watching the speedo but the app said 190 top speed reached, then watching the footage back it got to 189 and that was it, the app is clearly a big lying cunt of a bastard

Something I had added to my “wanted” list was the 2D Potentiometer sensor for the front suspension, this allows you to adjust the front compression and rebound independent of each other as oppose to the current standard set up which is the one adjustment that does both.
It’s not ideal but it was good enough, but I wanted that little extra adjustment that was more accurate to what I wanted, being able to fine tune it more. I wanted this more for track days, one came up for sale second hand and I couldn’t resist.
It comes with the fitting kit but what I’ll have to purchase is bump stops as the sensor will foul the radiator without them.
I’ll get some pics when I fit the sensor along with the before and after with regards the adjustability on the dash.

The bump stops have arrived, so I can now fit the sensor when I have the time. Another issue because it has the standard road fairings is the inner piece at the radiator, the radiator shroud or whatever it is that they call it. The sensor will foul that apparently so x amount of material will have to removed from it.
What I will do is fit the sensor along with the bump stops, then refit the fairings to see exactly where it touches this piece if it does at all, if it does I can then workout exactly where i need to shave material from and roughly how much. What I might do is purchase one second hand so I can keep the original one good, to be fair you can’t see it without looking down the fork leg but because I’m OCD as fuck with this sort of shit I’d rather mess around with another and keep the regional perfect.

I finally made a start on fitting the 2D potentiometer.
Parts to fit
Bump stops to reduce steering so sensor clears radiator. Sensor fitting kit and sensor itself.
Here is pics of the dash suspension settings before fitting the sensor. The top picture shows the settings when you select race configuration, so at a glance you can see what your settings are for each race pro setting, notice the DDC settings for the front have only one adjustment whereas the rear has two adjustments. The second picture is when you select one of the race pro modes for adjusting and the third is when I’ve selected to adjust the DDC, showing clearly one adjustment for the front and the usual compression and rebound adjustment on the rear.
First job was to remove the fairings including radiator shroud, always fun on the S1000RR, plenty creaking and almost like cracking when you unclip plastic fasteners
Once removed I was able to fit the bump stops, they were a pain in the arse to fit because of limited access but I got there in the end up, a little bit of loctite added just to be on the safe side but they come with a nyloc nut.
For fitting the sensor mount kit you have to remove the bolt that secures the wheel sensor, the mount fits over the backside of the sensor with the longer bolt that’s supplied. Then you fit the bolt with the 6mm ball joints which the sensor attaches to. On the lower fork clamp you remove the upper bolt and replace it with the bolt that’s supplied which accepts another 6mm ball joint for attaching the other end of the sensor.

I removed the area that I had marked and stuck everything back on. I wasn’t happy, it was fine everywhere except for one little bit where it was far too close for my liking, it didn’t touch but the gap was tiny and depending on what angle you were looking at it was ridiculously small.
But was fine elsewhere
So I only had to concentrate on the bit that was very close. So off with everything again, take some more material off then back together to be rechecked.
I’m happy with that, won’t foul anything.

Is it spring time yet? Can’t come quick enough. Fairings back on now after fitting the 2D potentiometer.
Bike is ready to go now, not got anything to do except maybe purchase the quick release fuel cap so not the full unit just a replacement cap which isn’t too expensive. I need a set of tyres mind you which I’ll get soon enough, I’ll probably go with the same, I’m looking forward to having a play with the suspension settings especially now the front rebound and compression are independent to each other.
I’ve been thinking about a full exhaust system, I was originally not wanting one, a slip on at the most but recently I’ve changed my mind, so that’s something to consider.

Yup bloody cold down here. Spring feels at least 2 months off I SORN the bike the other day as no point paying for tax whilst it's in the garage.

Lying snow here for the past few days. On the warmer days it hits a high of 4°c. Sitting at 1° atm.
I haven't managed to make it out for the paper yet.

Weapon of choice for work this morning. The wife needed the car and refused to get up early and take me to work, so I had to tax the bike and use it today. Thankfully it’s not overly cold today but I still made use of the heated grips.
