PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
Before I post the Info-Link, I would like to give a mention to Henry Dyer of The Guardian. With dogged determination, for more than a year, this Investigative Journalist has not let go investigating this story. A few weeks ago, there was not a single media outlet other than The Guardian who would cover the story. Now, the MSM are clambering all over it. You can speculate as to why the delay yourselves.
Some people hold journalists in contempt but it is on occasions like this that one wonders what would one do without them? Namely, holding power to account on behalf of the Public.
Oh...I have checked there is nothing in this post that would make RTTL liable for any legal issues whatsoever.
Latest revelations:

By the by. The Labour Humble Address proposal this evening to have all relevant documents released was approved.
I’ll close with the inimitable and much admired John Crace, But first:
Be good and don’t forget it was mine and your money as well as all other taxpayers that funded PPE.

I think you do Private Eye a disservice with the 'not a single media outlet' comment. They have been positively terrier-like on PPE procurement.

Re: PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
Not to mention the eye-watering sum of £37billion for the not fit for purpose 'test and trace' app. Covid and lockdown made a lot of Tories very rich indeed.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.
Re: PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
My apologies Count Steer. Yes, you are indeed correct. Barely a week or month goes by without them revealing some political shenanigan.
Glad you have corrected the record.
I used to read Private Eye but switched to Viz. Life can sometimes be just too serious. I’ll explain what I mean some other time. I’ll be glad to see the back of 2022.

Oops! It would be remiss of me not to mention The Good Law Project. and Jolyon Maugham KC who is as tenacious as any investigative journalist. He’s also been on this case - see Twitter or his website.
I’m now wondering if Dyer writes for the Eye?

I have not been following the PPE, but it does appear that the smole s getting quite thick, and a raging inferno may be lurking somewhere.
Good call on the Test and Trace app, that made some people a great deal of money, and I would be very surprised if some of it didn't filter down to politicians.

I’m inclined to agree with your ‘raging inferno’ comment. I keep wondering if more comes out could it precipitate a general election? It was sleaze that brought John Major’s government down. Be interesting to check with the Bookies.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 10:49 pm I have not been following the PPE, but it does appear that the smole s getting quite thick, and a raging inferno may be lurking somewhere.

Re: PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
Nope, it is not going away soon.
Today's latest. The Guardian is like a dog worrying a bone or should I say Mone - lol
Short extract:
"One source familiar with the couple’s financial plans said they have been considering leaving the UK and the Isle of Man and relocating to southern Europe. The couple may decide to leave the UK, or the tax haven island protected as a British crown dependency. But they are unlikely to escape the scrutiny of the UK parliament. Mone remains under investigation by the Lords commissioner for standards. That inquiry has been paused owing to the separate NCA investigation into PPE Medpro.
And in Westminster there are calls for full disclosure about Mone’s interactions with four key ministers: Gove, Agnew, Lord Bethell and Matt Hancock.
There are also growing questions about the government’s insistence, repeated so many times since the start of the pandemic, that “ministers did not and do not have any role in awarding contracts”, and that civil servants were the ultimate decision-maker.''

Re: PPE MedPro - The Plot Thickens
Track and Trace is a parcel service is it not?
Test and Trace is the rona thing. . £37bn is the cost of the whole lot though I think. So all those test centres, free lateral flow kits, people with grabby stick things leaning through your car window etc. Not just an app?

Who needs conspiracies when the Tory party money machine does this in plain sight.

"...on 8 May 2020, that Mone wrote an email to her fellow Tory peer Theodore Agnew, then a minister in charge of procurement, copying in Michael Gove, at the time the Cabinet Office minister. For both, she used their private email addresses."
