Well, except one channel...
Assuming that’s true, how is it a violation of the first amendment? Twitter is a private company, they can publish or not publish what they want.
First Amendment makes it illegal for the Govt (in this case Biden) to interfere with the peoples right to say what they want.... & having Twitter remove content is a clear violation of that. You'll probably see mention of it two weeks after the '24 election... Some of the documents I saw last night show lists of posts by various Twitter users, requests from Biden campaign to remove them ("more posts to review from the Biden team") & then "handled" after they were removed.
Even Democrat polticians are saying it's a clear violation of the First.

If I have this right and it was the Biden campaign team, he wasn't 'government' at that time.

PS....and I care about >< much.

PPS...possibly less.

Not sure on that - I could be wrong but the first amendment prevents a US gov from passing laws to restrict the freedom of the press - this isn’t what has happened in this case. Even if you call twitter ‘press’ (and that’s a stretch) there’s been nothing to stop proper press picking it up.

It’s long time since I studied the US constitution in my A levels but one of the other amendments may cover press interference - maybe the 14th?

It isn't a freedom of the press issue, it's freedom of speech.. & the Democrat party is most certainly "government". They effectively silenced talk by the citizens on the subject of the laptop (in cahoots with the FBI falsely claiming it was Russian misinformation). About 15% of the Biden voters wouldn't have voted for him had they known the truth at the time... & that's election interference by Twitter, FBI, DNC & the Biden campaign... The very thing the Democrats were claiming the Republicans were guilty of.

It's a VERY BIG DEAL... but fuck all will be done about it.

The democrats weren’t in government at the time. Again, even if it’s true then the stretch to say that’s preventing free speech is a very big leap. Twitter is a private company - it can make whatever decisions it sees fit. Much the same way as uk press will be pro or anti one party or another and may not choose to print something that goes against that bias.

I don’t have a political axe to grind but a campaigning political party of any flavour will try to keep its dirt out of the public domain. It’s a big leap from there to a violation of the first amendment.

They were the majority in both the Senate & Congress at the time.

There's a difference between a newspaper choosing to print or not print a story & being strong-armed into not printing a story by a political party.

So by your reasoning the GOP is the government now?

I expect Twitter were perfectly happy to support Biden, no strong-arm required. However I expect Twitter is in the group of social media companies that say they aren't publishers, so they would have been silencing other people's views and I'm not sure how that works with free speech laws.

Yes they were.. (well, except the threat that the Govt was going to pass laws about what they could or couldn't do) however, now evidence has come to light that they were being manipulated by the DNC etc... & that's where they (the Democrats) fucked up... & Twitter fucked up by denying they were doing it.
Volkischer Beobachter anyone?

Scanning the US news sites, it’s not even newsworthy there.

Well it's a scandal innit? It's newsworthy whether the biden stuff is true, even more so if it's being surprised by 'dark forces'. All the news services in the world can't be pro biden?

How long is the reach of the FBI then exactly?

Trump is so supportive of a free press too, that's why he let's people write all those books about him without complaining.

Like (I think) Potter said, it's only wrong when the other side does it

I think there's a good possibility that's because if they report on it, they'd have to admit to lying to everyone about the laptop in the first place.
Day Two of nothing about Musk on US media...
Twitter suspended the NY Post acct when they reported on the laptop.

So, again, the rest of the world's news services and journalists are collaborating?
