It would make a massive difference, £25m is a lot of money and the costs would go up and up with more bonkers use for a medical health care service which costs the tax payer dearly.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:18 amI'm saying you could stop all funding to any 'gender services' (dunno what else it would be called) tomorrow and it'd make precisely buggery all difference to the NHS.Ant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 8:49 amI'm sure they're not choosing to be falling over, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 8:30 am
Old people falling over cost the NHS more than that in a week. Or they did 10 years ago anyway!

Your man is right, it's old people that cost the NHS the most by a long long way. That's just a FACT which shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone.
Argue among yourselves about whether they've worked hard all their lives, earned it or whatever etc. etc., but it's the truth.

My suggestion in fact is that the NHS shouldn't be used for gender reassignment and I'm firm in that I believe that's abuse of the NHS. One shouldn't get angered at hearing different views.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:14 amWell, you started it with the name calling by calling people who have gender issues Snowflakes... so no, we didn't manage to do without name calling as you threw it in there. My point it, that's exceptionally insensitive. We have people on here and people in the world who have gender issues and associated conditions. You're directly insulting them by calling them snowflakes and implying they shouldn't be able to spend/use services that will make their life better.

And if you'd suggested that, that would have been fine... but you never you called them Snowflakes. You're intelligent enough to know the difference between insulting someone and having a discussion, i shouldn't need to write it out in crayons.Ant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:23 amMy suggestion in fact is that the NHS shouldn't be used for gender reassignment and I'm firm in that I believe that's abuse of the NHS. I suppose there's some irony in getting offended by that.....

Yes it is. No not the the NHS, as good ole tax payer shall find it and the additional people employed to shove their snouts in the trough.....

I'm not offended.. But some on here could easily be so... and rightly so. If you want to pretend you're bigging yourself up by using a phrase that makes you somehow superior, then crack on.... but we all know, you're being a dick here.Ant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:28 amOh, so the issue is the use of the term Snowflake......

NHS England budget 21/22 = £136.1billion. £25m is loose change.

£25m is just over one percent of one percent of the budget.
Re: NHS Crisis, do the French have the solution?!
That's quite some language for someone who's not offended. Calling someone a dickhead for having their point of view is a bit over the top in a discussion. You've directly called me names, but the term snowflake hasn't been directed at any particular person, until now I suppose.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:31 amI'm not offended.. That makes it alright then. Let's scoop off 25m for some private contacts since it's only loose change....Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:32 am NHS England budget 21/22 = £136.1billion. £25m is loose change.

Sure, whatever you say, try and make out you're the martyr here instead of the instigator. Wanker... there's another phrase that's harsh too. Point of order, he didn't call you a dickhead, he said you were 'being a dick'Ant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:42 amThat's quite some language for someone who's not offended. Seems a fair descriptionUrban Dictionary
being a dick
conducting oneself in an inappropriate manner to the annoyance of others.

So, how much do you think they should spend? I assume £0 because either a) you think there aren't any problems that need attention or b) you'd prefer that people with issues had no access to professional services.Ant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:43 amThat makes it alright then. If you fall over and break a leg I reckon the NHS should be able to look back at your Garmin/FitBit/Whatever history and check you step count to see if you really need to be able to walk. Seems fair to me.

People with these issues used to get help. Now they can get their bits messed about with at our expense whilst forcing their views upon us. See the men who compete in women's sport and the arguement surrounding JK Rowling.Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:53 amSo, how much do you think they should spend? Re: NHS Crisis, do the French have the solution?!
I'm pretty sure that my own use of medical services goes up exponentially decade by decade - and I consider myself to be reasonably (so far, natch') lucky when it comes to health issues.
I must have had at least two dozen interventions in the last few years - GPs, scans, labs, consultancy etc. Nothing super scary but I kind of think once you get sucked into that feeling of vulnerability, then you explore all sorts of offered solutions to maintain your health. Maybe I needed some of them, possibly not all, but I'm not exactly standing there demanding them. Is that timewasting or taking the piss? (obviously not in my case because I'm paying my way here).
A decade ago I rarely even went to the GPs, certainly nothing much outside of dentistry maintenance stuff.
Strongly considering getting some free tatties and lady junk on the NHS though - apparently just my in-your-face champagne-fuelled liberalism just isn't enough to properly wind up Ant these days ...

Re: NHS Crisis, do the French have the solution?!
I think the 190 is the whole budget for the Department of Health and Social Care Inc the Covid costs. Only part of that goes to the NHS. TBH, if you're looking for savings, £25m is down the back of the sofa stuff. I assume it'll cost way more than that to reorganise patients away from The Tavistock services (hurrah!) and into regional specialist services. £25m doesn't get you much of anything any more.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:33 am£190bn?Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:32 am NHS England budget 21/22 = £136.1billion. £25m is loose change.
