Parking in Derby
Anyone in or around Derby and know the place well?
No 2 son is off to Derby for some of that education. He's living pretty centrally, and needs somewhere to park his motah. What's his best option? I see there are council car-parks not too far away that do season tickets, but I also see the council do season tickets for on-street parking, which would be closer.
Are there any other options in the area? If he gets an on-street season ticket, would he always get a spot, do you think, or is there a scrap for them?

Sell the motor.
Spend the cash on drugs and hookers.
Seriously tho', as a student, what does he need a car for?

He doesn't need a car. He wants a car. And he's got a lovely classic BMW that he loves with a passion. There is no way he's not taking it with him.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:36 pm Sell the motor.

Have we really got no Derby folk in here. The boy needs advice on parking his big Teutonic fanny magnet.

He's in Cathedral Court in Cathedral Road. I moved him in there on Thursbury. It's actually a really nice place, and I thought Derby itself had a nice vibe. And you can get a double vodka with a mixer for £3! It's like the 80s all over again!inewham wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 6:30 pm I'm halfway between Nottingham & Derby and used to work in the Cathedral Quarter but I always used the bike or cycle. Can you expand on 'Central'? There are backstreets off Kedleston Road on the way toward the Uni, around Darley park and Chester Green. I couldn't vouch for how safe they'd be. There are lots of car parks in the centre you can get season tickets for but they wont be cheap. If you have a street address it would help - I could pop over and scout around.
For now, I have bought him a Cathedral Quarter on-street season ticket for a month, so he is able to park right outside. He is currently 10th on the waiting list for a space in the car park, so I am hoping he gets that fairly soon, as £99 a month for bloody parking is an additional expense I could do without!
Any insights would be super helpful.
