AFAIK, no one is being asked to park their beliefs and customs, but they are expected not to enact them. Freedom of expression is very limited in Qatar, especially to non-citizens, and I should imagine that most Qataris feel that the country has already given plenty of leeway to visiting foreigners.

Is the UK as 'backwards' as Qatar? And presumably before it became law it was a bigger non-trivial number. Because at the very least laws are thought provoking. Motorcycle helmets didn't used to be a thing - I would suggest that riders who have never known anything else wouldn't even consider going out without one, law or not.

We are in the West they are in the East - it's different, it's not like it's being hosted on the Isle of Man or something, it's fucking 1000's of miles way, they have different cultures that should be respected.
But at the same time they have the religous side of things that tarnishes my respect for Qatar as a country. It's sad that the power over there is held through religion but the majority that probably just want to pray and live a more western way life are the ones that get all the shit and are hated by the west.
