Left hand heated grip stuck on hot?
My left hand heated grip is permanently on as I'm riding it. It's on the hottest setting regardless of what the temperature setting is and it makes no difference if the grips are switched on or off? I have just fitted the Yamaha integrated loom so they switch and on and off with the ignition, so it must be something to do with that, but for the life of me, I can't see what or how as the connectors are one way fitting? Any ideas?

Re: Left hand heated grip stuck on hot?
Yes when they were wired direct to the battery using the other Yamaha loom, but I accidentally left them on and the intelligent controller turned out to be a bit thick and let it flatten the battery! Hence I replaced it with the loom that plugs into the main loom and switches on/off with the ignition.

Put original loom back on and an HG sticker on the clocks.

I imagine you've made an error in the wiring, sounds like the battery live is going to the grip through the relay, but without passing through the temp switch.

You cant really make an error in the wiring. I used the Yamaha official loom which plugs into a dedicated connector on the MT-09's loom. It's only there for the heated grips.

Put it back the way it was previously wired and see if the grips work as normal. Process of elimination.

That was the intention but I cant find the old loom and suspect it might have exited via the builders skip!

Have faith. I saw Tony Robinson rooting around in there the other day...

Have you been in touch with the folk you bought the loom from. Could be a dodgy one.

I'll find the old loom and try that. We're just getting straightened up after some building work and I cant find anything as the wife had tidied up!

Re: Left hand heated grip stuck on hot?
Are any of the plugs identical? Could be they're plugged in wrong if so, but otherwise sounds like the loom is faulty.
Should be easy enough to check for continuity in the places it should/shouldn't be.

Re: Left hand heated grip stuck on hot?
There are two identical plugs one white and one cream and white is for the 12v accessory plug in and the cream for the HGs. The instructions tell you to use the white plug which then blows the fuse! Its a known thing on the forums, so i knew going in which one to pug it into. I've found the old loom now, so will try that at the weekend and see what happens.
