There is, he gave me a massive discount on the YSS shock for my Suzuki, and it works lovely.

I've known Darren at MCT for over 35 years, he's a good bloke, but is very busy, book well in advance.

I love good suspenders on a bike. I'll try to get what I want with the stock items,but the middle ground always seems to be missing. On My 10R the rear shock was rubbish,but the forks didn't take much to be right. On the current Zed,it came with an Ohlins,which is ok,even though it's at the cheap end of the line,but I couldn't get the forks right at all,so money was spent there.

Potter has it pretty nailed,if you budget 2k for both ends,you'll not be far off.

Mined ewe,if you chop your bike in every couple of months,I wouldn't bother.Some folk baulk at the though of spending money on suspension,yet have no issue with spunking bigger amounts on snorty cans and bolt on gee-gaws,whatever blows your skirt up. I don't mind the cost,because I usually keep mine long term.

I can't see that happening as I love the bike, but if riding it daily causes my knee problems, then it might not be my decision anyway.
I don't think i'd drop £2k into it, as it is only a commuter after all. But I have resprung bikes for my weight before and its been much better for it. I can get a k-tech shock for about £450 new and I suppose a £100 for springs? Then whatever someone charges to fit it and set the sag for my weight etc. I think I might risk that?

It's decent value and give or take £20 you could fit it, hate it and sell it next week. It's pretty much a no brainer.

Many folk bugger up spring calculations.
If a bike is set up for 100 kgs rider but you are 110 some think you need a 10% stronger spring. Wrong.

100 kgs rider plus sprung weight of bike is 300 kgs.
110 kgs rider plus sprung weight of bike is 310 kgs.

So need 3% stronger spring.

Stick your vital statistics in there, and it will give you a spring rate f+r.

FWIW, as a svelte 89kg, I run 0.9kgmm front springs, and whatever the ohlins came with....I checked and it was on the compliant side of ideal

Bought it. He wouldn't drop below £325 but I went with that. I can get K-tech linear spings for £89 delivered. Theres a local guy who has a workshop but he's also an amateur racer, or used to be, and he does suspension set ups. So I'll probably get him to fit it all and set the sag etc.

Nice one. That should do the job very well. Decent suspension is the single best thing you can do to a bike.

Is it usual to have to arrange collection? Why can't he send it and you pay the cost? Wouldn't that be the standard way of doing things? Seems a bit odd but I've not bought things that way.

That's a good price, I've got a trade account for YSS that shows a shock for £270 not that you need it now

I bought an Ohlins for one of my GSXRs for about £850.
Had it on various new bikes for about 10 years. Sold it for £600

One of my all-time bargains was an Ohlins that I put on the Falco that was originally for an RSV Mille, that I got off eBay for £230 around 12-13 years ago. Not only was it in absolutely mint condition, it was the aftermarket model with hydraulic preload adjuster.
