I dunno you know... is that actually possible at this level ? Sure he can not get on with a bike, but to lose speed, i don't know about that.

D Binder has been worse in terms of results, but i'll be he's at the reasonably pointy end in Moto2 next year. I don't think people just go from awesome to garbage... See Remy Gardner, Olivera etc too. I think the fact is that MotoGP are the pinnacle of engineering and takes a ridiculous amount of 'something' to get the best out of them, if you can't get that final 0.5%, you look rubbish... I think that's all some of these lads are missing.. Soon as you put them on a decent bike.. They'll fly.
I don't disagree with any of that, especially the bit about riders going from awesome to garbage. However, it doesn't take much to lose a little confidence and for that to translate to poor results, which in turn feeds the loss of confidence, which produces further poor results. Franky has had a year of that, and even the most mentally of strong people will be affected by that, especially when your team mate isn't suffering, and your team management are looking at you, and saying things, that indicate they made a mistake with you.

Rossi is a great example of the above during his Ducati years - he even stated that his first year back with Yamaha was to prove to himself, as much as others, that he hadn't lost it. And look at Zarco, the same thing.

That's what I mean when I say Franky has lost his head, and if he gets a break through in the bike, gets some consistent performance back, he'll bounce back.

It'll be interesting to see how the rules work with the small ones vs the 600/whatevers and what bikes end up then trying to be moved into/out-of he various support classes.

I thought it was a daft move him leaving Honda for BMW in the first place, but maybe there is more to the story than meets the eye.
