Did 160,000 miles on my GSX-R750 in 8 years, 99% of that commuting. It held up well as in winter I was able to hose it down arriving at work, and again when I got home. Killed it in a crash, still ran OK but several electrical issues.
After that I never found another bike I liked as much, so ran various shitters, flogging them on when they needed tyres. Had a Fireblade for two years that I bought at 75000 miles, sold after 40,000 more miles.
In 2016 I bought a Piaggio X-Evo 400 scooter. Best bike ever for commuting, especially in winter, as weather protection was superb. Would do 90mpg if treated gently, and do an indicated 100mph if not.
Now retired, I no longer commute, so it's all academic now, as is the riding in freezing conditions in winter. It might get a bit chilly here for a couple of months, but can ride all year round.

Another one who had no car licence until late 20s. Had too my missus decided to get pregnant. ;)

I really don't miss cold winter mornings trying to defrost and frantic fumbling for the old feller for a piss with comedy numb fingers

Only ever bought one bike specifically for winter, the Himalayan last year and it was great until it started having electrical issues and the calipers turned into a lump of corrosion despite being drenched in ACF50 before going on the road.
