Never mind garden gnomes, do you have room for ...

Post by Horse »

A Cold War military jet standing at the entrance to an RAF base is to be scrapped after no-one came forward to restore the aircraft.

Officials at RAF Marham in Norfolk had offered to give the Victor to anyone who wanted to take it away since it was in need of maintenance.

I'd have to have a shift around out front and move the Vulcan then see if I can put the Valiant in the back garden.

You know how it is.

Nah, but if you find an A10 or Mosquito going begging let me know and I'll move some stuff around for them.

To be fair, that's been the only reason in my life that I've never had a rusting hunk of giant, decommissioned military aircraft sat on my front lawn.

I was trying to find a picture of it but can't, the fuselage of the Mossie that used to be at Elvington but is now at east Kirkby used to sit on the drive of the bloke that owned it, it dwarfed the bungalow he lived in.

I reckon I might be able to squeeze that in to our paddock, and it's not that far away either.

My missus is always going on about those posh garden pods so I've suggested this to her. Would make a lovely office in the summer I think.

I could fit a 737 in the garden, so that will easily fit without squashing her plants.

Disassembly and moving costs might be impressive!

Found at the tip after they scrapped an F4. I was too late to get any other parts.

I have got quite a few bits of EE Lightning inherited from my FiL.

I swear he must have made of with half of RAF Binbrook when they closed it down. :D

I've a 6" vice that came from Negretti and Zambra when my father was one of their accountants.

As well some length check rods for my micrometers and other sundries.

Maintenance? It's essentially a metal sculpture, it's not going to fly anywhere. What sort of maintenance does it need apart from a fresh coat of paint every few years? :wtf:
