Re: Valencia Test Motogp
I watch every bit of MotoGP over the weekend, but watching testing is usually very dull. But I'll be keeping an eye on the timings on Crash.net

Re: Valencia Test Motogp
What are we expecting then ? Obviously it'll be a slow burner, but will Yamaha be bringing a faster engine ? Will Honda have a bike that handles ? Will the new Aprilia riders bond quickly with the bikes? How about Pol and the KTM, will he find his feet again on it ?

Re: Valencia Test Motogp
Yamaha had better bring a faster engine.
Honda had better sort their handling.
It'll be hard to tell with Aprilia, because Vinales will win the test championship,he even left the race early on Sunday to prepare.
Pol will be quicker on the KTM than the Honda.
All of the above may not matter much if Ducati take another step.

Quartararo disappointed with the new Yam engine and Marquez with the new Honda.
No magic bullet then. Ducati could be in for a golden era.

Top 15 are all within 0.8sec and it is a testing day., so god knows how many different setting combos were used by different riders in differnet teams
Difficult to tell what's hot and whats not I reckon.

Raul Fernandez in his comfort zone of being at the rear end of the pack. Augusto Fernandez, a rookie, and on the KTM which is a worse bike than the Aprilia, only 3 tenths from Raul.

Re: Valencia Test Motogp
Impressed by previous versions of the 2023 Yamaha engine, Fabio Quartararo got a nasty surprise during testing at Valencia on Tuesday.
After the disappointment of losing out on this year’s title to Francesco Bagnaia on Sunday, Quartararo signalled his intent by being the first race rider on track this morning.
A series of new parts were available for his M1, but the main attraction was the latest engine upgrades, expected to build further on the promise shown at the Misano test in September.
Instead, Quartararo was perplexed to find no power or extra speed over the much-maligned 2022 engine.
“I'm surprised because actually this engine was supposed to be a little bit faster than the one we tested in Misano and Barcelona [but] I found it was the same as [the 2022 engine] two days ago,” said Quartararo, who had been fourth in the race and was ninth fastest at the test.
“Especially on the qualifying lap. We compared the speed and it was the same. So we have to analyse what happened because we had two tests - Misano Barcelona - then Cal [Crutchlow] did Motegi and Jerez and they saw a difference on the [new] engine.
“But right now, there was no difference. So we have to analyse really well what happened.”
Asked if he was disappointed, the 2021 world champion replied: “Yeah, of course! It's not the way I wanted to end the year, but at the end something went wrong.
“It's not possible that in Misano and Barcelona we felt an improvement and today there is nothing."

Re: Valencia Test Motogp
Marquez didn't seem any happier
Marc Marquez could not hide his disappointment after testing his 2023 Honda at the Valencia MotoGP test and warned: “I expected more but it isn’t there”.
The Spaniard missed much of 2022 as he rehabilitated from a fourth major arm surgery yet was still Honda’s highest-placed rider in the MotoGP standings, finishing 13th, after a horror year for the team.
Marquez tested Repsol Honda’s prototype bike for next season on Tuesday but was left frustrated with its lack of improvement, and insisted that unless major steps were taken he would not be able to challenge for a seventh MotoGP championship.
“We tried a proto-bike with new aerodynamics and the same engine with a small modification, a different chassis. That’s it,” he explained.
“There is not a big difference. A bit. But we lose it in a different area, it’s a compromise.
“In the end, the performance was very similar.
“Of course I expected more but it isn’t there. The important thing is that Honda is working.
“I expect a big step in February at the next test.

It'll certainly hurt if he does that for an entire race - I can't see the leather lasting for more than a couple of laps

Re: Valencia Test Motogp
Anyone care to enlighten me as to who that is?
Edit: If it is actually obvious then feel free to point that out as well.
Blundering about trying not to make too much of a hash of things.
