Re: New Hesketh
According to Hesketh the engine is “made under license from Honda, it was once the XR 400 motocross engine, well proven and pretty bullet proof, produced to Hesketh specifications in Taiwan, twin port, twin injector, Euro 5 certified.”
I notice the Bike Social article says: "At 165kg dry the Heresy isn’t as light as we might have hoped but it’s no heavyweight"
Who's Ben Purvis trying to kid?
The Honda XBR500 - to which it will inevitably be compared* - weighed in at around 170kg fully-fuelled and oiled, and it carried quite a lot of both - around four and a bit gallons of the former, if I remember right. I'll be interested to know where the Hesketh gets the weight from. The wheels look light enough, so it is the frame? It can't all be the Euro 5 cat.

Re: New Hesketh
I'd forgotten those... but the ABS unit on my XJ6 is pretty tiny. I've not stuck it in hand but I doubt it weighs that much.

Re: New Hesketh
Back before Euro 4 (or is it 5?) when ABS was an option on the Fireblade I think Honda quoted a 4kg difference.
It's not just the valve block and pump, there's reluctor rings and sensors and extra wiring, not forgetting all the hard metal hoses.

Re: New Hesketh
Or you could knock 5kg off the weight, 7.5k off the price and add 30bhp and buy a 690 Duke if they still made them. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 4:35 pm According to Hesketh the engine is “made under license from Honda, it was once the XR 400 motocross engine, well proven and pretty bullet proof, produced to Hesketh specifications in Taiwan, twin port, twin injector, Euro 5 certified.”

Re: New Hesketh
I guess I'm slightly more interested now it seems it has a Honda motor in it. But it still absolutely should've been a big V to fit with the brand.

Re: New Hesketh
It looks like a significantly worse, home-made Suzuki SV650X with a cylinder missing and seven grand added.

Re: New Hesketh
The other bike in the range is a big V.
I reckon it's the same chinese XR copy as in the Mash bikes, just polished up a bit more.

They all love those arty dark photos. Make me wonder what the subdued lighting hides.
