I bet coconut is really expensive compared to the other ingredients in the tub. Probably the real reason.

Sugar

Re: In todays news...
Manufacturers of high cocoa mass dark chocolate would disagree with that comment, but it would be true of pretty much any other confectionary sold as chocolate. I just checked on Mrs Mango's tribal sized bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk and the only ingredient ahead of sugar in the list was milk. Not really that much of a surprise, I suppose - the clue being in the name and all.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 2:52 pm Even if you buy really expensive hand made artisan confectionary the main ingredient is....

Re: In todays news...
Montezuma do a bar called Absolute Black, 100% cocoa solids. I assume there's some sugars in cocoa itself but, once you get past a certain percentage, it's not chocolate as we know it. Interesting and different (in small quantities) but definitely not a 'candy' bar.

Re: In todays news...
I have an aversion to sugar in anything other than trace amounts. Even half a teaspoon of sugar in a mug of tea is enough to make it totally undrinkable for me. I think it all dates back to my childhood, and my Mum having a very strong aversion to refined sugars and basically banning me from having any, something I am hugely grateful to the old girl for.
One piece of chocolate-based confectionary that I've searched (unsuccessfully) for is dark chocolate fruit and nut. Does anyone have a source?

Re: In todays news...
Absolute Black isn't cooking chocolate, it's in with the chilli, orange, mint etc bars. We got 2 high cocoa solids products from one supplier - one 'cooking', one not and the cooking one was yeeeeuch to eat the other one I don't know what the difference in contents/manufacture is....but there is one!Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 4:31 pmI've bought Willie's Cocao 100% a few times for cooking purpoes. Re: In todays news...
The 100% 'bricks' from Willie's are meant for cooking - some people might remember the C4 series about him?
They/he make's "single estate" eating bars too, but they're sorta post it note sized pieces rather than your traditional bar. I'm not sure if they go all the way up to 100%, but there are some pretty high cocoa contents. Agree they taste different to the cooking stuff though.

Boris could have gone after the PM seat again, but he chose not to, don't blame him.

But even he isn't that stupid to go at it again.
His ego tells him he is great, his hang around tell him he is great,
In all honesty, his leadership skills are mono dimensional - " What's best for Boris"
He is lazy, disorganised, with no ability to think in strategic terms.
He will be back ... is ego is too strong
