Valencia Motogp

Post by Skub »

With Fabio Quartararo 23 points behind Bagnaia,it'll take a win from the Yamaha rider and no score from the Ducati man for Fabio to claim the title.

I know anything can happen in racing, but it looks to be over bar the shouting.

You'd also assume Ducati as a mass of riders will help him out if needed. Theoretical but they could pull 8 riders out and even if he was 10 laps down he could still get some points lol.

The highlight of the weekend will be the tests on Monday and Tuesday.

See if the Yamaha will be competitive in 2023.

Or Bastianini even? Unless Alvaro has sneaked back into Motogp. :D

Crutchlow is the main test rider so knows all about the 2023 bike.
He hasn't been convincing when asked about it.

How long have Yamaha riders complained about the bike? Right back from before Rossi retired the lack of straightline speed was an issue, yet here we are years later...

It's not in Yamaha's DNA to do mega horsepower, hence the same complaints we've heard about that ever since Rainey was winning.

The problem for them is, Ducati have upped their game in terms of both power AND handling....so Yamaha can't use their handling prowess to it's advantage now. I think the days where you can compensate for a bad aspect of a bike are now over as technology has pushed braking, handling, cornering that far that just a fraction of a disadvantage, you may as well stay at home.

I don't think they have a choice really. THe simple dynamics is, they're a shit load off the pace for everyone apart from Quat and even he has fallen apart a bit.. So they either accept mediocrity, or they change the game and change the bike. I'd assume they've all thought of this though... but we've thought that with Honda for years now and their bike is universally slated as being bloody rubbish for anyone apart from MM.

Guinters just said that Bastianini will be balls out to get 3rd in the championship. That's worth half million extra. Wow.

The way practice is going it seems like they're all trying to use up the last of the spares for this year's bikes.
