Re: Chief Twit
Interesting concept - 'more alive' and I guess 'more dead'.
Can you name anyone who is more dead than any other dead person?

Re: Chief Twit
How about Abel. He's been dead longer than anybody else (if I remember the Bible story correctly) so he must be deader. He's had more practice at it. Innit?
This thread has taken a strange turn.

Re: Chief Twit
Strange, I've used Twitter for years (though not a heavy user) and genuinely don't recall ever seeing a political tweet on my feed. I only 'follow' a small number of posters and always ignore Twitter trying to get me to diversify my 'interests', and I only see tweets and retweets by those I follow. Apart from Elon Musk, who for some reason has appeared at the top of my feed todayScrewdriver wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 11:51 am Again, Twitter is nothing more than a very popular "forum" for the world to speak their mind. All Elon is doing (I think!) is to level the playing field and stop the overt censorship of that platform which has skewed "world opinion" which it would appear is largely being invented by a few leftist hackers with an army of bots...
I did come across a tweet, having clicked on a link from a media outlet about how much bother Ricky Gervais was in for his Netflix standup due to a couple of trans jokes. It was basically a pro-trans activist account going off on one and getting absolutely slated by 99% of the respondents, though all done very politely (so probably no Americans involved). Why a woman with a penis complaining about a comedy act is worthy of national media attention is beyond me, but no doubt plenty of readers who didn't bother to check the actual feed were convinced that the world's gone mad and the weirdo's are taking over

Re: Chief Twit
I don't think left and right have moved much outwards in reality at all, in fact they're all very much more centrist. What is now totally entrnched is every twat's belief that they alone are a fairly moderate example of their left or right leaning beliefs but they are surrounded by extremists of all colours - and this is simply because the media is now giving more airtime to sensationalist extremist views in a strange attempt at being fair. Hence why on a Monday you can have right-leaners claiming the Beeb is a left-sympathiser and on the Tuesday a left-leaner claiming the opposite
Re: Chief Twit
I don't think either side has moved much to be fair, what has happened is that they have become more and more tribal in their views and just automatically take the opposite view to the other side and then each side tries to one up the other. As an example only the far left and the far right give a flying fig about the "trans" issue, the far left make up all the shit about hundreds of genders and the far right make up the outrage about tampons in gents toilets. Most normal left/right/centre people just don't really give it any thought as long as no one is being hurt and shrug it off.Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 4:11 pmHmmm,Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 1:51 pm The cartoon shows that, I think DT's point is that the left and right have both moved in reality.

Re: Chief Twit
The real problem with Twitter is that it was under the direct/indirect control of the US government. Elon has uncovered a number of connections between the (previous) board and the current US administration.
So while the platform purports to be a non partisan discussion between the general public, it was being manipulated by the Biden administration to hide stories and promote others. While that may be true for most if not all of the big tech giants, Google, faceBook, YouTube etc. now the cat is out of the bag and there is incontrovertible evidence of massive government interference.
Two things might happen as a direct result. Firstly one might hope those buried stories (Hunter Bidens laptop is a biggie!) might suddenly turn out to be of much greater concern to the public at large than had previously been admitted.
But secondly (and this is sadly the most likely result) the US government might suddenly decide that actually free speech isn't that important after all and they insist on having overt control of public forums - starting of course with Twitter....

Re: Chief Twit
But luckily for our American friends, they have a written constitution, which is notoriously difficult to circumvent. The first amendment of the constitution specifically protects freedom of speech. That's not going to get overturned any time soon.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 6:56 pm...

Wow. I didn't know Jordan Peterson was banned from Twitter! This just popped up in my feed...
Oh, yeah, big JP fan and I find RB is also quite watchable too.
I post it here because obvs "Twitter" but also JP's observations regarding trolls and their choice of alias is pretty damned interesting...

Re: Chief Twit
He corrected himself from 'because that's where my son died' to 'because he died'. It's no secret that Biden believes the burn pits in Iraq caused his son's cancer.
He also mentions the 'war in Iraq' then corrects himself to 'the war in Ukraine'. Strange how no one accusses him of lying over that part...
You've got to be pretty desperate (and a little bit sick) to suggest that the most watched man on the planet is deliberately lying about how his son died.
Re: Chief Twit
That was the hot debate, he's either lying deliberately or so senile he doesn't even know what's going on.....Hoonercat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 8:18 pmHe corrected himself from 'because that's where my son died' to 'because he died'. Re: Chief Twit
And, given your 'out telling lies again' comment, you evidently decided that the most watched man on the planet was deliberately lying about something that could be checked in a few seconds, even though he corrected himself immediately. It's people like you, and the person who made the original accusation, that are the problem, not Twitter.Ant wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 8:19 pmThat was the hot debate, he's either lying deliberately or so senile he doesn't even know what's going on.....Hoonercat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 8:18 pmHe corrected himself from 'because that's where my son died' to 'because he died'. Re: Chief Twit
So you see him as being the most watched man on the planet to mean that all he says is well and true, interesting.Hoonercat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 8:59 pmAnd, given your 'out telling lies again' comment, you evidently decided that the most watched man on the planet was deliberately lying about something that could be checked in a few seconds, even though he corrected himself immediately. No, that's not what I said at all. When someone immediately corrects themself without being challenged, it's a mistake, not a lie.Ant wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:11 pmSo you see him as being the most watched man on the planet to mean that all he says is well and true, interesting.Hoonercat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 8:59 pmAnd, given your 'out telling lies again' comment, you evidently decided that the most watched man on the planet was deliberately lying about something that could be checked in a few seconds, even though he corrected himself immediately.
