Re: What have you done today thread?
I've been having some garden work done recently, I came home yesterday to observe what I thought was a perfectly good wheelbarrow in my skip. I assumed the builder couldn't be arsed to cart it away and I thought I was quids in.
Turns out the frame has completely buckled/collapsed. Minor moment of joy squashed without mercy

Nah the wheel was fucked too
Probably as a result of having to cart about 5 tonnes of smashed up concrete slab out of my garden. I Imagine he overloaded it.

Today I have learned that its not worth hoarding stuff unless you actually know where you've put it! From now on if I buy something to do a job and there's anything left over, its being given away, or going in the bin.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Today, as it's blowing a hoolie and raining, was a great day to visit Wakehurst Place (aka Kew South). It kept lesser mortals away Had a v nice stroll and meatballs + fusilli for lunch in the uncrammed restaurant then another nice stroll. Loads of pheasants around the place. There's a gamekeeper somewhere nearby wondering where all his birds went.
The journey home was though, thanks to a couple of sets of roadworks and an adventurous, GPS guided detour.

Re: What have you done today thread?
We’ve just started to revamp the kitchen with hoarded bits and stuff that people were throwing away
Not what I’d had planned fir my week off!
Nasty old sink unit and worktop taken out.
My wife never did like that white plastic sink bowl which she demonstrated with her club hammer.
New worktop and window ledge made from a scrounged oak table that’s been knocking about in the cellar for years, ceramic sink was in the upstairs bathroom when we moved in.

Very little really. I went to physio at 9am, then back and did some cross stitch christmas cards. A friend came by for a cuppa which was aces.
I've succumbed and put a heater on in the kitchen for hte afternoon and in the tv/sofa/sitting room for this evening mostly cos it's damp and yucky and that makes it feel colder
Had planned a really early night in prep for an early start - but I forgot about Bake off!! Oh well, will still survive the early start!!

Went to work.
Which meant I had to drive back, first drive in the dark since before Covid times, that's gonna take some getting' used to.

Took a funeral for a dear friend. At least he was assured of his faith and his destination. Does not stop us from grieving at losing a dear friend. Home to take the woof for a walk, then back to Church in evening to clean the hall. Home again to relax a bit and unwind. Tomorrow is a school visit, followed by two assemblies, then fish and chips at the "Oldies Club" and then back home.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

Re: What have you done today thread?
My pal runs Enduro tours and makes a nice living. He often borrows my bikes and we have a set price for doing so. His idea.
He had 3 customers today and in first 15 mins, his WR450 got a puncture so called me to borrow my Beta Xtrainer.
No probs.
An hour later he called to day the Beta had a puncture.
So he came and took the Husky
I was waiting for another call to borrow the GSXR
He's now got a boot of wheels to take to local shop tmrw.
He's very fluent in Spanish and gonna ask the shop for prices for a new Gas Gas. I've bought 2 bikes from there and they treat me well

Ummm @weeksy - Is it usual for someone to copy another member's post as their own? Kinda weird??Jo.Hab wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 2:42 am I got physio first thing in the morning with yet another new therapist!! I didn't pack everything, but I got halfway there (I'm going to their place for 4 weeks!! So it's worth carrying sewing machines, projects, the exercise ball, and other physio stuff.
On the way to mine, a buddy up there offered me to lunch with another friend, which was convenient. On the way home, I stopped to get some coffee. I usually get coffee at home as I have (link deleted). They had salted caramel coffee in the school kitchen; I couldn't find it, but I'm going to taste caramel coffee! Only because the residence I'm staying at till Thursday has a Nespresso machine.
I was going to ask why you'd changed my name, but you didn't!!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Today I'm mostly knackered!! Went to Lyon yesterday to meet a friend who had a day's layover there. She said there is a bit of walking from her hotel to the basillica, then to lunch, on to the Yamaha dealer in town and back to the hotel via the cat cafe
Bloody hell - 11 kms with a couple of injuries was a bit of a challenge and I'm serious achy today!!
Need to sort out some photos as I had no idea just how huge Lyon is or how amazing the architecture is!
Awesome day. Well, the dealer didn't have the bike I wanted to see. The cat cafe needed to be prebooke. But I laughed more yesterday than I have for ages. Brilliant to meet someone with a similar brain who can be daft as a brush but (relatively) sensible too
Off to physio in a mo - got to try and disguise the leg and back aches as I just can't deal with sorting that in french as well as the shoulder!! LOL
Will go through photos later. They aren't good photos at all, but damn Lyon is stunning
