Re: Chief Twit
I watched his show last week. He's definitely an odd bloke. He does suffer with something though. Forget what. But imo, Men with too much money getting too much power is never a good thing in the end.
I'd also like to hear Brian Cox's view of EMs living on Mars idea. Bet he has some wonderful dreams.

Billionaires are always dangerous. Bkllionaires who are convinced they are right are very dangerous.

Don't social media companies facilitate a cancel culture by providing the environment? Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick?

Re: Chief Twit
Their censorship seems rather one-sided and driven by fear of losing revenue. Musk is already looking to change the revenue stream, no idea if he'll make it work or if I want Trump to have unrestricted access again.
Re: Chief Twit
It'll be interesting to see what will happen next. Will the left wing safe space now no longer be safe?
Will the rabid mung bean merchants now have to publicly fall on their sword as they have to now face up to an attempt to justify the fascist things they say, not being able to run to Mummy and Daddy of Twitter to shutdown conversation, oppress any opposition in their authoritarian way from the safety of their chair in their middle class house, with tofu, soya milk and cous cous.

In the last four weeks, Elon Musk has offered a peace plan for Russia and Ukraine that outraged Ukrainian officials. He has posted a tweet about Iranian internet access that exposed government protesters to a phishing scheme. He has also suggested in a newspaper interview that China could be appeased if it were given partial control of Taiwan. An official in Taipei demanded that he retract his suggestion.
Mr. Musk has in recent months emerged as a new, chaotic actor on the stage of global politics. While plenty of billionaire executives like to tweet their two cents on world affairs, none can come close to Mr. Musk’s influence and ability to cause trouble. He has sometimes waded into situations even after he was advised not to, and has already left behind plenty of messes.

Talking of Twitter and the left wing shut down, I wonder how many of them have burst a blood vessel as the venom surges inside their lust for hate, when Gettr was launched? https://gettr.com/

Lolz at those of us apparently addicted to Twitter just so they can get enraged by views they don't like.
If you don't like it, turn it off, but you just can't can you?

An SA friend of mine claims to have associations with Musk.
Apparently Musk was born not too far from his parents gaff in Pretoria where he was brought up!
Keeps trying to tell me how he came from rags to riches, but tbh i think he had a pretty privileged upbringing as did my mate!

Re: Chief Twit
Twitter can be fun, but it’s to be taken in context.
I think the concern with Musk and his freeing of comedy tweet is that it’s been perceived as open house for stuff that really ought to be censored.

Re: Chief Twit
Isn't un-censorship the whole reason he has bought twitter?
Isn't he meant to be some sort of future mogul of technology and the future of our socialism! Online socialism that is taking away the core values of what society and real life interaction stands for?
Marketing has a lot to answer for these days!

Re: Chief Twit
I don't use Twitter or even follow anything on there. I have an account from centuries ago but that's just for the occasional link or reference because why not.
My impression is that the platform is more like a bellwether. You can see from a purely numerical standpoint exactly what the mob is thinking. The number of tweets/retweets tells the viewer what the overwhelming preponderance of opinion is for any given topic. It says nothing for the veracity of any "information" or evidence to support those opinions, just the raw number of those who support or deny it.
Clearly that data has been manipulated by the previous administration to either falsely increase the "level of belief" or subdue/censor any dissenting view. With the popularity of the platform, that has been an extremely powerful tool for the extreme left wing over the years.
It will be interesting to see what Elon makes of it.
