Ha! There hasn't been much commitment of late.
I got the pox around the middle of September, then had to splash paint about for weeks, meanwhile the weather went cold and wet when I had more free time. Yesterday and today look to be the best days, hence a shortish run.
The nice grippy, dry roads have gone now and any old corner can have damp or leaves waiting,so liberties cannot be taken.
Nice to get out and clear the head though.

The looks are always going to divide opinion, but selling the ZX10R and buying this one was one of my better decisions. It took a fair few tweaks to get what I was after, but it's a joy to ride now.

I've always liked the look of those. Until I had the 390 Duke, I never thought I'd go away from sports bikes, but when I thought I would, the Zs have always appealed, especially after I didn't like the 690 - I know, different animals, but both did what I was looking for!!

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I should imagine mine rides similar to the base version of Skub's and the Z900/GSXS 750. Cracking road bikes with plenty of mid range shove and more than enough go to make things go blurry at the top end. Once mines paid off I'm tempted to get my suspension upgraded. I don't have any issues with mine really but it'd be a nice treat, not that the Mrs know this yetNoggin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 8:45 pmI've always liked the look of those. I got out for a spin on the SV650 this afternoon,we had rain all morning but it was alright late afternoon
The roads were covered in peaty mud & loose gravel, and the bikes now covered in peaty mud ...
I can't complain though, late October & still wearing summer gloves

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
'95 D3 with 16,000 miles for about $3k. Still trying to adjust the wrist/ass/speedometer connection. Freeway off ramps come up awful fast at 150mph.. which was as fast as I wanted to go on 13 year old tires..
Trying to ride the ZX at ZRX speeds, didn't work, ended up approaching my off ramp at 150 on the ZRX last time out... ooops
& yes, I now have two bikes in the garage....altho the Camaro went & was replaced by a 400hp twin turbo Explorer ST which is a bit quick in its own right.

My ZZR1100 was the last bike I owned which was a pleasure to work on. Valve clearance etc are a doddle,no cams out bollox.
I had some great times on my old bus.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I quickly became an expert at pulling the tank & fairing panels etc off it & putting them back on again... Checking the oil is different to every other Kaw I've owned "fire it up, turn it off, wait 10 minutes & look in the window" ... two hours later it's half way down the window instead of at the top. What bollocks is this? Apparently GTR1000's are the same, but not the ZRX. Apparently something to do with oil draining away to hide somewhere... & probably something to do with that 2nd drain plug.
Changed the horn to something that can be heard. Horn is on the front/left down tube, relay is by the battery, compressor is in the left side of the tail. Denali SoundBomb, it's LOUD!!! (140+Db)
Can't get the fucker on the main stand until I get my wrist fixed (non-union fracture separated about 6 months ago, didn't go back together this time, screw is loose).. So I have to put the front in the Baxley, lift the rear with the Pitbull, flip down the mainstand, pull it back out of the Baxley & then lower it off the Pitbull onto the mainstand..... Then swap the adaptors on the Pitbull back for the spools on the ZRX. FFS, what a faff.
It had missing/wrong hardware on the fairing etc, got a full kit off Ebay for $36, then two months later they sent me another (free), different kit by mistake, some of that one ended up on the ZRX.
Clearcoat on the sides of the wheels was all buggered so stripped & polished those bits.
Apparently there's only mine & one other (dark green '96 with 100,000+ miles) running around LA. Very comfy, very stable, scary fast, hadn't ridden one for about 25 years... had an "oh yeah, now I remember" moment riding it home after I merged from one freeway onto another freeway at 140mph. (altho the ZRX11 is full of ZX11 goodies so is faster off the line & around town)
Taking it to the RS again on Nov 20th to meet up with the green one (weather permitting), will make a better attempt at not being a total twat.
Insurance is $117/year, full comp/collision, 100/300 limits, $7500 agreed value (will be changing that to $8500 or $9000) & it if gets wadded I get the bike back & the $7500. Same exact policy on the ZRX costs me $220/year. There's mileage limits with both policies, but I won't get close to that.
(Ya didn't recognize Gul Dukat by the ZX11?)
