Out of curiosity what were you doing when 12 years old Docca?

Probably lusting after the chamber maids, swapping racing tips with the butler and scrounging cigs off the Estate Manager like the rest of us I imagine.

Re: LBD JRM
I like JRM. What you see is what you get. People need to get over the fact that he's posh as fuck. I'd rather that than Oxbridge MPs suddenly deciding to adopt a working class accent or a an ex-PM who smoked a pipe for effect, rather than his preferred cigars.
Posh and proud.

My criticism of him is nothing to do with his poshness. It's more the fact he's a climate change denying, backwards thinking hypocrite.

Re: LBD JRM
I sort of like him but he should be clear-headed enough to show empathy and he just can't bear to do it, so he's just left looking like a good old fashioned superior twonk. Which is a shame.

Re: LBD JRM
He's the perfect example of someone who spouts the most egregious nonsense but because he has the right accent and dresses in a particular style, he is taken seriously. If he wore jeans, trainers and had a Brum accent he'd be laughed out of sight.

Just like Yvette Cooper, he puts on the posh accent when in London, - and talks with a real Somerset twang when at home ....mangocrazy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:23 am He's the perfect example of someone who spouts the most egregious nonsense but because he has the right accent and dresses in a particular style, he is taken seriously. He can't fill junior minister roles at his department, even fellow Tories don't like him.

My biggest issue with JRM is his loyalties, the nation would come 3rd after himself and the Pope.

Re: LBD JRM
I don't believe JRM will be viewed kindly from a historical perspective. He is one of the guiding lights of the ERG and they are entirely responsible for moving the Conservatives away from a broad church, One Nation view to something far more cynical, narrow-minded and self-serving. If, as appears likely at present, the Tories get eviscerated in a coming General Election, JRM and his ERG cronies must share the majority of the blame.

I've seen him referred to as the Haunted Pencil a few times recently. I have to admit, I'm behind the curve on this particular childish insult but it seems pretty fitting to me.

Re: LBD JRM
So, he resigned after eight ministerial roles, in five departments, under four Prime Ministers? So is that moving him around because he's rubbish and couldn't stay in any department too long or because he can't be bothered to stay long enough to learn the job??
Another one resigned and the site I looked at said he had the same history of eight ministerial roles, in five departments, under four Prime Ministers - is that normal then or just a typo from the paper?
Bloody glad he's gone. He may be 'normal' in some ways but he obviously has no compassion or care about him for the general public or the environment

I just really hope that he loses his seat at the next GE. Anything to see that self-satisfied smirk wiped off his face.

Re: LBD JRM
He always struck me as someone who just has a hard-on for long winded and puffy parliamentary procedure, but with no real care for what parliament is actually meant to do/serve.
Might be an unfair impression, but judging from the fact he's proud of not using Email, contradicts the findings of his own department in interviews and issued a style guide to his underlings I'm not sure it is.
