I have to admit that I never believed the John Major/Edwina Curry thing. I assumed it was something that had been cooked up for the press to counteract all the accusations that he was boring. His wife, Norma, never seemed very agitated by it. Not sure I believe it even now tbh.

Clearly the producers of Spitting Image were in on the secret as that was their long-running gag. :D

I know. I assumed they'd agreed to spin a story and done a bit of pitch rolling at home with their respective spouses in advance etc. It made him look a bit whoo and a bit wher instead of grey and boring and she got something to put in her memoirs. ie the press didn't make it up, they did.

One of the prime minister's most senior advisers has been suspended, the BBC understands.

Jason Stein, a special adviser to Liz Truss, is to face a formal investigation by the Propriety and Ethics Team, which is responsible for standards across government.

It follows some anger from Conservative backbench MPs about briefings from No 10 sources over the weekend.

...

Asked about the suspension, Ms Truss's spokesman refused to refer to Mr Stein by name, but told reporters: "The prime minister has made it very clear that some of the briefings are completely unacceptable and must stop."

This was a reference to briefings to newspapers from those around her who can speak on her behalf, which contained strong language.

Over the weekend, the Sunday Times reported that Ms Truss was of the view that the former Chancellor and Health Secretary Sajid Javid was "shit".

Seems that Suella Braverman has been sacked today, after saying last week (in such a way she sounded like she was getting off on the idea) she dreamed of deporting people to Rwanda then today at PMQ being tied in knots by Yvette Cooper. Think that yesterday she started a diplomatic row with India after claiming loads of Indians overstayed their visas.

It's looking like the Conservative party are in utter chaos at the moment.
Personally I want to see more of Jacob Rhees Mogg, he's so much of a dislikeable bloke that its guaranteed to land them in deeper shite.

Very soon he'll be the only one left with more than 5 minutes experience. That he hasn't been pushed higher so far means he either a terrible coward or such a weasel that he'll never accumulate enough backers
Probably both.

And there'll 100% be some tabloid worthy seedy headlines from his past that some greedy Fleet Street scoop is hanging on to for the best moment to splash it.

No sympathy whatsoever. Truss hasn't been a surprise, nor was Johnson. If the bloke in the video believes so strongly that it's a disgrace and he's standing down at the election, why not do it now?

Your lot are getting as bad as our lot.

Our lot are refusing to go to work,so it looks like there'll be another election called, which will re-elect the same twats who will again refuse to sit in government. Round and round, plus a cost of £6.5 million for the election.

Terry Pratchett couldn't make it up.
