Tufton Street
If you still vote Tory at the next GE, I’m afraid to tell you Tat following years of Tory-driven cuts, your wait for a mental health act assessment will now likely be several years.

Yeah vote Labour, everything will be fine and dandy, it'll be free beer and chips all round and no one will have to pay for anything.

Yebbut. Every time anyone suggests that a Tory government/cabinet etc may be less than ideal it triggers Olympic level whataboutery. We could all be living in caves and subsisting on roots and berries and it would be as long as 'the right sort' is in government - they know there place and that the ruling class are obviously the best rulers.

What we need is a little more rational thought and a lot less political dogma.

What we need are politicians with spines, not ones that do what the media wants - feck knows where this bunch of spineless, useless twats that are afraid of any criticism came from, but can they just go away and let some adults run the country

Quite the problem though isn't it? The current UK scene is so polarised, allegiances rarely change because the two partys are so different.
You'd think a third party, lodged firmly in the middle would sweep up.

Re: Tufton Street
I strongly believe that the masses are in favour of money in their pocket, traditional tory policies - whilst at the same time gladly spewing it's-not-fair hatred at the government they just elected, and demanding instant remediation like a terrible episode of the XFactorCount Steer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:53 pm Yebbut. That used to be the Lib Dems until they decided a coalition would be a good idea, but I get your point. My vote moves around but is never Tory, I'm not registered to vote at the moment so need to get that sorted out fairly soon.

Arguably Kwasi got it right. His mistake was not telling the world his plan in advance, with time for the markets to factor stuff in. Markets hate surprises.
Inflation is a PITA, but taxing your way out of a recession is a bit like lifting yourself up by your bootstraps.

I can't help but wonder how different things would be now if we'd had a LibLab instead of a Condem.
Bit late to be worrying about such things now

We've the bonus of having the SNP to vote for, and they are doing such a fantastic job of running Scotland currently.

Just when I think it is all doom and gloom you come along to remind me things could be worse.
I am confused, I've looked at a few reports on NHS and social care spending and all of them show a steady increase. I'd be surprised if I've accidentally stumbled on all pro Tory-websites. Even nhsfunding.info that wants more money shows a positive real world increase every year, just not enough.
What are these Tory-driven cuts mentioned in the OP?

Yes we do need politicians with spines, or as my sister says, "proper grown ups"Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 2:18 pm What we need are politicians with spines, not ones that do what the media wants - feck knows where this bunch of spineless, useless twats that are afraid of any criticism came from, but can they just go away and let some adults run the country
This bunch of spineless, useless twats mostly came from Eton....
The scariest thing for me is that the nearest the Tories have to a grown up is J *unt. The problem we have is that he is the Antichrist.
@Docca will remember when he did his best to destroy the NHS.
As at today, I'm hearing much more common sense coming out of Labour than I have for years.
A slight aside regarding taxes. After the pandemic, most of the people i talked to were expecting taxes to rise to pay for Furlough and the stalled economy, I expected just that too. were you?
