Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
I know you have made a decision of sorts. Given that 2/3 triumphs have been OK, its better than even odds to get another Triumph. Personally I would be looking at a mt09/10 if I was in the market.

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
I have just spoken to the dealer. They have actually submitted my issue as a warranty claim. Just how many clutches can you get under warranty? Does anyone know if this is a world record?
If they agree to do it, all good as at least I'll have the freedom to choose which bike/brand to chop it in for and now is a good time to go shopping. While I've had a few new bikes, I'd be happy with anything under 15k miles.

I don't know if the cams are an issue. We'll find out after the clutch has been done. I think the timing chain adjuster might be a problem, but I'd do that myself if I keep the bike.

Hello, Bodgit Budget Bikes, how may I help?
Blah blah ... I'm passing by tomorrow ... could I make an appointment to see the dealer principal, he should have an answer from Triumph for me.
Blather block distract ooh no, he's busy.
No problem then ... pause ... when will he be free?

They're waiting for so and so from the factory to phone them. I'm not even angry - I'm all angried out. If it were April and the days were getting longer and warmer I'd be a little more anxious.Horse wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 4:50 pmBring BringggTrinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 4:31 pm On Thursday they said that they would get back to me on Friday, on Friday they said that they would get back to me on Monday and today they are saying they'll get back to me tomorrow.

Just booked the Portsmouth to Santander ferry for June 2023 - I wonder what bike I'll be taking.

We have to put reg plate on booking, even if just island hopping.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:04 pmThey're waiting for so and so from the factory to phone them. I have found no one ever rings back,be it a tradesman,a healthcare professional or a shop,it's only a stalling tactic, something to make the customer go away for a while. It takes bloodyminded determination to make headway, being nice is often a mistake.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 4:31 pm On Thursday they said that they would get back to me on Friday, on Friday they said that they would get back to me on Monday and today they are saying they'll get back to me tomorrow.

A friend is booking it and said that I didn't need to yet. I looked and there is a check box for unknown reg. If I had to, I would put the current one and then change it.Yorick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:10 pmWe have to put reg plate on booking, even if just island hopping.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:04 pmThey're waiting for so and so from the factory to phone them. Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Just spoken to the dealer (he phoned me).
Triumph will not accept any further warranty claims on the bike.
We agreed that the market value of it is £4,000. They will give me £2,750 as a trade in.
To fix it would cost around £1,000 however, it could be more and how long would it work for after that.
His advice was "get rid" which is easy for him to say especially as I've shown interest in the Speed Twin but I agree that anything else might be throwing my money down the drain.
I'm off to think about it.

TBH, i'd take it and move on. TBH as they've not helped you much, i'd arguably be asking for it in cash and going somewhere else for my next bike... but i doubt that will fly. I'd still take it though.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:20 pm Just spoken to the dealer (he phoned me).

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
I'm thinking the same. Is it worth taking legal action, which will take months and months and months for the sake of £1250? Grrrrweeksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:24 pmTBH, i'd take it and move on. edit: I may phone the Triumph dealer that I got it from originally and see if they can give me a better deal - It may only save me a couple of hundred but it's worth it for a phone call.

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
I'd take that if you still want the speed twin? If you (understandably) want to jump ship from Triumph, then try getting a trade in price elsewhere. If the trade in price with its fault is too low from Suzuki/Yamaha etc then get it fixed by someone other than Triumph and try again.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:20 pm Just spoken to the dealer (he phoned me).

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Do you realy want another Triumph?
If not, or if there is another nearby dealer, thresten to take the dealer fo the small claims court for the £1250.
It may take ages, but it will be cheap for you, and potentially a lot more expensive and risky for him. He might just decide to up his offer to closer to £4k.

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Personally,I'd not be interested in spending another bag of sand on the bike. It's been a poor show for Triumph and a bad experience for you. The offer of £2750 is just enough to make you consider it as an option, but they're doing you no favours.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:20 pm Just spoken to the dealer (he phoned me).

As Weeksy said,I'd be inclined to do a deal and put it all behind you.
The last possible option would be to pay KFB £500 for petrol and matches, then claim the market value.

Will they take it off you for cash. ? If so, buy another brand.

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Why? It is fairly cheap, simple and hassle free until you actually get to court. That is the stressful bit.weeksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 2:33 pmThat's just crazy talk IMOCousin Jack wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 2:31 pm Do you realy want another Triumph?

The idea is to get him to go off to a solicitor and find out how much it will cost him. And to think about the damage to his reputation if he loses.

Re: Triple Trouble - Consumer Rights
Is £4k a reasonable market value or is it under? If it's pretty much market rate I'd want to put it behind me.
