People whinging when a new Prime Minister gets elected by their party following a resignation, who get all uppity and start moaning they they didn't vote for the incoming person. FFS. That's how the fucking process works in this country.
It's a bit like the boring bloke in the pub who tells you that only 32.8576% of the UK population voted for the party in power at the last election, meaning that the majority didn't and thus it's undemocratic and they have no mandate, blah, blah, blah....
Fuck off!!
As I've said in the arguments forum, IMO the PM resigning should trigger a GE by default.
So yeah, I agree it's the process. The process is BS though
Another bonus about living in Scotland, we've another layer of bollotics to go on about.
Especially good when the above scenario about percentages is spouted by an SNP supporter, the joy of pointing out the same applies to the Scottish parliament has them squirming and performing some really interesting maths to justify their position.
The current lot can't even organise getting a boat built by a Clydeside shipyard.
The BBC telling you that your can listen on their sounzap, what's that then? They're saying sounzap, nothing else is pronounced, so I'm assuming that's how it's spelt.

I'm peeved because I used to use the podcast player on my phone to listen to the friday night comedy from BBC and now it seems I have to use the Sounds app - but I've only been able to play 2 of 3 News Quiz shows that are available FFS

People might vote for that sort of change, it probably has some merits (and would at least focus the minds of governments like the current one, who seem to be totally unphased by revolving-door prime minsters), and changes like proportional representation. However you'd immediately have different problems taking up column inches and generating humbling TV interviews with MPs - because the general public haven't really thought through any of these changes either, we all just like a good whinge.
That TV show on at the moment 'Make Me Prime Minister' I imagine isn't totally different from what goes on behind closed doors - bumbling fools like on The Apprentice, bickering and coming up with thoughtless policy that get's destroyed under the most rudimentary scrutiny.

Not sure I agree. That party will still have the majority in the commons, probably. We don't vote for an PM, we vote for MPs, so in theory, whoever is 'leading' (I use inverted commas for a number of reasons) the party with the majority is fairly irrelevant.

So if Labour had the majority, in your view, Corbyn as the leader would be no different to Starmer.?

Sounds App? Is that what it is? When attempting to pronounce their words, they miss the D out and flow from soun straight into a zapp.

I think so. I've not listened to BBC radio for ages, just teh podcasts. But, in trying to find the news quiz, I found 'BBC Sounds' app, so I reckon that's what they are trying to say!

There would be a change, naturally. Let's go a bit surreal: if the incumbent leader of Party A suddenly lost the plot, said they would scrap the NHS in favour of cosmic rays and scrap the police in favour of remote-controlled armed mice, the other members of Party A would quickly have another leadership challenge and said fruitcake leader would be out. Sensibility would remain. No election need, though there would be a fire sale of remote controlled mice.
If there was a challenge but the majority of MPs thought those policies quite sound and kept fruitcake as PM, then carry on with the cosmic rays as that's the direction the party wants to go. The electorate will get their say the next time around. If there's any left in the country to vote.

I had a very pointless discussion some years ago as to whether it is 'an hospital' or 'a hospital'. My up-his-own-arse friend insisted that as it was derived from French it should be 'an 'ospital'. I countered with the rapier-witted reply, 'Shut up, you pretentious twat. We speak English, notwithstanding the origins of the word, It's 'a hospital'.

Some hospitals are as well appointed as an hotel.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm from sarf Luhnden, so in my vocabulary you ride 'an 'orse' and get 'an 'aircut', so I may very well use the vernacular 'book me an 'otel room'. But I would say this: it begins with a consonant and thus it is 'a hotel'.

Quod erat demonstrandum
So, if a word begins with a vowel it's 'an'? Like an onion or an union?
If it begins with a consonant like hotel does it's 'a'...like a hour?
(If you pronounce hotel with a haich, it's 'a' if you pronounce it otel it's 'an'. It's down to whether it's a vowel or consonant sound rather than an hactual vowel or consonant).
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

As an aside, the Gremlinette's name IRL is Ellen. My late mother-in-law, who was very working class, would always try to put on airs and graces around people she perceived to be 'posh' and would always introduce her as 'Hellen', with huge emphasis on the H in order to appear equally well-spoken. Bless 'er heart. Miss the old girl in many ways.

I hear the argument....but...
Why have a PM at all then? Why not just have all the MPs and no overall leader?
