Friday thread.. getting chilly at times.

Post by weeksy »

The weather is turning a bit again and it's chilly at times... So what's the plans.

Fri : Rogate playing on the DH stuff with the boy and his mate. Home maybe for take-away on the way back.
Sat : Chilling and prepping the ebike for Sunday.. Maybe a localish ride with the lads if my legs play ball
Sun : Race day, Stile Cop, Cannock... the boy is racing i'm on tow-up duties to try and get him an extra run or 2 of practice. Then getting stuck in traffic i expect.

Shed stuff, fixing lawnmowers and tidying mostly. Possible a thrash to Inverness to have the van looked at by a main dealer.

Continue the search for the original number plates for my car, so I can get my private plate off and then the car cleaned and photographed and up for sale.

If I can find a plug and some flex, get the new security combined floodlight/CCTV up.

Going to restaurant to pay deposits for Xmas dinner tonight, so grabbed a table for dinner tonight whilst we're there.

Tomorrow, might go to a dealership and look at cars and maybe a test drive, but I don't really like to do that unless I'm ready to buy. Might be interesting to see what they'll off px on my car? Not sure I CBA with pushy salesman though?

Sunday, if the weather is okay, hopefully get out for a (shortish) dog walk at the coast.

Today - Just had builders visit regarding putting in 5m bifolds on the back of our kitchen, then also priced up to remove the 2nd front door (random house design feature!) and perhaps render entire front of house to make it look a bit more modern
Sat - Decorating, then out for some grub/beers with my lad and a few of his friends
Sun - No doubt more bloody decorating!

Weather looks grim round these parts so probably pottering with two-wheeled contraptions of both kinds in the shed.

I reckon I've another week or more left of decorating and painting. It dawned on me today I haven't been out of the house for weeks, other than to get more paint and stuff. The bike hasn't moved a wheel since the middle of September, but it's been cold and wet anyway.

WSBK @ Portugal is on this weekend,so I'll take a break and watch some of that.

Chez Gremlin is just about recovering from whatever foul lurgey knocked us all for six this week, so nothing tonight.

Drag child out of her pit early on Saturday to go take a look at the University of Portsmouth, specifically their Geography Dept. as that's what she wants to study. We can have a mooch around so if anybody has any recommendations of what to see and do in Portsmouth, suggest away, I'm hoping we can get back a reasonable time and catch up with some friends for a quick bit of dinner at ours.

Sunday will be a day of cleaning, with the added thrill of a tip run, if I play my cards rights....

It's my home town and TBH I'm struggling ;)

This place is good for Brekkie, never been there for another meal though. It's in Old Portsmouth, which is not too far from the Uni.

P.S. whenever I think of someone driving down to Portsmouth sea front for the first time I can't help but remember Mrs. D's comment the first time she did so. There's a Hovercraft service across to the Isle of Wight, which has a sign posted car park. "Why do they have parking just for Hovercraft?" she asked :D

Actually, I've just remembered this place, which is right next to the Uni.

The Avenue Campus (I think Politics will be there) is a nice older building, the main campus is a lot more clinical, if it is Avenue Campus you can park on the streets nearby, but be aware of the one way system.
Daughter is in Glen Eyre accommodation which is about 15 minutes walk away and seems nice.

Today - not sure how this place can get so disorganised in just a few days of me rushing in and out!! LOL So, today, sorting and tidying. Doing some paperwork and getting stuff (paperwork) ready to post! Lots of cross stitch as want to finish a project so I can get on to do some cards! But the big thing is sorting stuff. Maybe even getting some stuff organised ready to go to cat sitting

Tomorrow - head down to the valley to get fresh vegetables. Chat with my mate in the shop. Hopefully catch up with some other friends. Maybe commit to buying the wood I've been putting off buying for freaking ages, kinda think it's not worth doing till Monday, but that would mean I have to wait for two hours after my french lesson for the shop to open; so might as well buy the wood tomorrow and do the DIY Monday afternoon!! Get a photo done in a photo booth so I can apply for my French driving licence. Stop at a beer festival on the way back up. Strictly and cross stitch :D

Sunday - Go through some of my French notebooks from the last course. Start a new course on Monday which is three hours a day for two weeks :D More cross stitch and maybe some cooking to be organised for the week!! Need to sort a load of papers as I have an appointment on Weds in Chambéry so I'm planning to go and ask at the Prefecture if I can have the VTC (taxi licence) even though I still have an English driving licence. Haven't been able to get it because of the UK licence but hopefully if I can show that I have applied for the French one and point out that I wasn't allowed to apply before, hopefully they might feel sorry for me!!!

Weather's been pretty good the last week but it's due to change this weekend it seems :( Here's hoping for snow but sadly I think it's going to be rain :( :(
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

Today. Took wife to work, visited someone to hear the results of their cancer scan, not as bad as they had initially though, but still bad. Prayed with them and anointed them. They are not Christian per se, but wanted prayer and want me to walk with them in their journey to hospital and recovery which I will do with honour and integrity. Daughter to park with her puppy to meet her friend and their little dog. Collect her in a short while to take her to the head doctor so she can talk about her depression etc... out to Lamplighters tonight to support youth group events.

Saturday: Day off, do as wife tells me.

Sunday: 4 services, but I am not leading/preaching, so can enjoy being in the congregation and a pastor.

Today, two back to back pitch meetings, one a non-starter from 2 mins in but had to go through the motions, other has potential. Once they were out of the way, 2 hour+ drive to ‘nam, Notting’nam’ to meet up with family for annual get together. Highlight of evening was dinner with my dad and my kids.

Tomorrow, wander around ‘nam like Lemmings, then food / drinks / family get together in pub next to hotel. Put world to rights etc

Sunday, breakfast altogether before heading home, breadknife has residents’ association meeting, I’ll potter around before we start our annual Harry Potter marathon of one film per week until Christmas. This year we are also going to Harry Potter World as well 👍🏻
