BSB - Donington GP
Ebay sprint race results
Tom Sykes delivered a masterful victory in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship eBay Sprint Race at Donington Park, becoming the ninth different race winner of the season to take the MCE Ducati team back to the top of the podium.
Sykes was inch-perfect during the 15-lap Sprint Race and silenced his critics by leading from the start to celebrate victory with MCE Ducati who become the seventh different team to win this season.
At the start, Sykes launched off the line from the front row to lead the field into Redgate for the first time. The previous World Champion then controlled the race, and despite the gap narrowing in the closing stages, he secured victory in Bennetts BSB for the first time since 2010.
However, the chasing pack continued to shuffle, and it was Jason O'Halloran on the McAMS Yamaha who gave a gritty performance following his two high-speed crashes last week to return to the podium.
The Australian had fought his way through the field after dropping to sixth on the opening laps, taking on his rivals to carve his way up the order with determined moves to keep his title competitors behind him.
The final podium position went down to the last lap to be decided as championship leader Bradley Ray held the initial advantage. Peter Hickman was in close contention and at Goddards for the final time, the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha made a small mistake, which gave the FHO Racing BMW rider the opportunity he needed.
Hickman’s third place came in his 400th Bennetts BSB race start with Ray taking fourth, to extend his advantage by five points as some of his closest rivals missed out in the opening race.
Glenn Irwin was leading the next group of Title Fighters in fifth place for Honda Racing UK as he moved up the order in the closing stages, keeping Lee Jackson and Kyle Ryde behind him. The pair had been dueling throughout the race as they bid to bag the points with just five races now remaining.
Tommy Bridewell was eighth on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati as he too had been part of an earlier battle with his closest title challengers. Leon Haslam and Ryan Vickers completed the top ten.

Re: BSB - Donington GP
I’m so glad to see the Grinner get some success this season, well deserved, cracking performance from him. I think he’s fastest in morning warmup as well. I’m looking forward to the races today.
Good to see O’Halloran bounce back from his nightmare at Oulton, still a huge deficit to get back and highly unlikely, Brad Ray can win it today depending on what happens, hopefully not so we can have some excitement at Brands.
The Superstock race was brilliant, what a performance from Billy McConnell, I thought he was going to do after his mishap on lap 5 or so.
The supersport race was also a cracking watch, TBA was exciting to watch, should be good today.

Re: BSB - Donington GP
Some superb racing all through the classes today and the lack of Kennedy in Supersport with the addition of Tom Booth Amos turned it into a proper dogfight
Looks like the showdown format made sod all difference this year but i bet it stays anyway

Race 2 results
Race 3 results
Results from race three, round ten of the 2022 Bennetts Superbike Championship at Donington Park.
UPDATE: This report now includes a statment on the condition of Chrissy Rouse, made this evening.
Race three had it’s share of drama with Bradley Ray coming out on top to move his championship aspirations a step closer with victory at the third race at Donington Park.
Following the early red flag a whole series of riders seemed determined to make a better fist of their second chance.
Tom Sykes initially lead again, but Ray this time immediately made himself known behind, with Glenn Irwin soon pulling himself into the lead mix.
The trio all had a chance out front, with Jason O’Halloran and Andrew Irwin moving into the hunt.
Race and title hopes over for O’Halloran.
On lap six of the shortened eighteen lap race the Australian couldn’t get his Yamaha stopped and ran into the back of Tom Sykes at the Melbourne loop.
That accident sent the McAMS rider spinning, while the contact, Sykes’s MCE Ducati lifted the Yamaha clean into the air saw the #66 retire to the pits. O’Halloran left the track by ambulance.
After an issue for Glenn Irwin, Ray eventually pulled clear out front, but needed several new lap records to do so. His new best of 1m 28.597s helping him to his ninth win of the season on the Rich Energy OMG Yamaha.
The results behind ensure the title goes all the way to the last round at Brands Hatch.
Andrew Irwin had been sandwiching the Yamaha with his brother so moved into second for Synetiq BMW Motorrad, 2.226s behind the winner.
Heroic Glenn Irwin on podium without a footpeg.
After fighting his way back in front, Glenn Irwin had been looking to ride hard and take his first win since Silverstone.
The Honda rider needed to last for four more laps to taste victory when he suddenly ran wide and dropped to third, looking down in disbelief at his bike.
The Northern Irish ride had snapped off his footpeg. Resourcefully he balanced his foot on the exhaust, and although not able to ride as fast as before while checking his foot position constantly, he was determined to hit the podium.
As Tommy Bridewell caught and passed the #2 it looked to all be over, but a wobble by the Oxford Products Ducati man gave Irwin the opportunity to pass back and finish his most remarkable finish on the podium.
Danny Buchan took advantage of the restart to improve his position and moved up to fifth by the close of the race on the second Synetiq BMW Motorrad entry completing a strong day for the team.

Re: BSB - Donington GP
Some brilliant and highly entertaining racing there in every race I saw, gutted for Lee Johnson in Supersport, he's far overdue a win IMO.
And a real shame for Sykes in the last race- JaO was obviously on a mission -right from the start of that one he looked like a man on the very edge of control, pulling some very risky moves.
Anyway, I'm glad that he or Sykes weren't hurt in it as that was a proper clattering, and I'll be interested to see what penalties are dished out for this one- anyone's guess based on the variance in recent ones...

There won’t be any as O’Halloran had lost control of the bike before the impact, it was unavoidable so purely a racing incident.

Yup, he was already coming off the bike having lost the bike on the brakes, Sykes just happened to be in the way. I doubt there will be any penalty applied which will please Stuart Higgs as he wont have to appear on telly explaining all his and the stewards actions

Re: BSB - Donington GP
So,this PBM Ducati which has been nowhere all year with Sykes and Brookes, what has suddenly changed to make it a winner? Or is it just Sykes and Donnington?

Re: BSB - Donington GP
It’s a track that he gets on so well at and considering they race the GP circuit each year in WSBK then he doesn’t have to worry about relearning the track.

Nah, got to be more to it surely. He's got 3 days every weekend to relearn then and has been dog shit every race. After 3 days you'd be getting somewhere? Got to be a change on the bike ?

Not at Donington he’s always been good there. He even said the bike wasn’t 100% and he was making mistakes, said that after both wins iirc.

Re: BSB - Donington GP
It can’t be just the bike as Josh was down in his usual finishing position for all the races with Bridewell close to the front as usual.
There were engine strip downs done of all the top 3 bikes after race 3 with no issues found. If Sykes had finished top 3, which was looking likely before being clobbered by OHalloran, then that would have answered the doubters.
He said all weekend he likes the track and sections of it really suit his riding style on the Ducati and watching the racing a lot of his lines are completely different to the other riders
