BSB - Oulton Park

Post by wull »

Brad Ray is in form at the moment, he’s unbelievably quick on that R1.

Qualifying…………..

Bradley Ray delivered a knockout blow to his Bennetts British Superbike Championship rivals in SUPERPICKS Qualifying, setting the fastest ever lap of Oulton Park by 0.672s to claim the pole position for Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha.

Ray set his sensational flying lap towards the beginning of Q2 and then his rivals were pushing to close the deficit. Tommy Bridewell was the closest as the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider posted the second fastest time of the session, 0.796s adrift of Ray ahead of him.

Jason O'Halloran had a last lap flier that put him up the order into third to complete the front row for McAMS Yamaha, with Peter Hickman on the FHO Racing BMW splitting the teammates to head the second row.

Tarran Mackenzie had a surge into fifth in the closing stages of Q2, just ahead of Leon Haslam who completes the second row of the grid for the eBay Sprint Race.

Andrew Irwin starts seventh for SYNETIQ BMW just 0.007s ahead of his teammate Danny Buchan with Title Fighters Glenn Irwin and Rory Skinner completing the top ten.

Lee Jackson and Kyle Ryde complete row four of the grid ahead of this afternoon’s opening race of the Showdown.

Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Oulton Park, SUPERPICKS Qualifying:

Bradley Ray (Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha) 1m:32.948s

I’ll post the eBay sprint race results when they’re up unless someone finds them, maybe a delay because of the incident between Jason O’Halloran and Peter Hickman, nothing major just a little naughty from Hicky which sent the O’Show into full blown “I’m gonna smash your cunt in” mode, or simply known as the “Wull” switch.

It was an unfortunate but mostly acceptable overtake. But O'Halloran won't see it that way for sure.

Hard to tell for sure and I didn't see a decent replay but Hickman looked to be well in front when O'Halloran turned in on him.

Racing incident but now Hickman has been penalised for messing with the clown show that is the showdown. BSB racing is great but the championship is bollox as this has proven yet again.

Does it actually say he’s being penalised for interfering with the showdown riders? Seems a bit extreme that.

Druids is fast and there’s not much room if you have to sit up by someone slipping up the inside, also when you’re traveling at those speeds and at similar speeds to each other it’s not easy to make a clean pass. Jason had already started to tip in when Hicky appeared, it’s a tough one.

He’s been excluded from the race and has been given a 3 place grid penalty for the next race.

What I find mental is the incident today is at the very worst a racing incident, a gap that was there and Hicky went for it and he’s been royally fucked for it, and then you look at the JR & AB incident where some are saying it looks almost intentional and JR got 1x LLP for it…………mental!

Hicky has also been given 2 points on his race licence

That Aussie twat should be banned for his obvious threats to Hicky.
But more importantly giving that lady Medic so much shit.

Bike racers are not important.
Medics ARE important.

Well fuck me dead! Red flag!

First of all, what’s the chances of Jason getting blootered at the very same corner, Druids! That was the point I was making, you get sat up at Druids you’re going off in style.

Secondly, I hope Taz is ok, could be big damage to his leg after getting run over by Hicky.

Fuck me dead part 2 😲

Utter madness! That looked nasty for Rory Skinner on the entrance to Britten chicane, getting his leg caught in between Christian Iddon’s rear wheel and seat unit, it looked very nasty the way he went with the bike getting thrown about.

Suspected fracture of the femur for Taz.

Isolated head injury for Christian Iddon.

Chest injuries for Rory Skinner.

All 3 to the hospital, I don’t think Rory’s is anything bad, more a check up I think. Surprised there isn’t any injuries to his leg.

Inconsistent stewarding; one rider gets disqualified and 2 points, the other gets a 15 second penalty, for the same overtake.

Bridewell's comment summed it up - O'Halloran was being a pussy through that section, and asking for trouble. The fact he got it, twice, from two different riders, in the same place, says it all.

O'Halloran is a fast rider, but mentally is weak, and folds like a pack of cards when it comes to pressure; I reckon the rest of the grid know that, hence why he's always being taken out as he leaves himself open for overtakes. Can't say I'm a big fan of him.

Blimey. Almost glad I didn't see it!!!

A mate is usually there (he sponsors a couple of riders, I think in the Ducati cup thing, maybe) but he wasn't there this weekend so I couldn't quiz him much!!

Hopefully all heal quickly and well

How can it be that Bridewell doesn’t receive the exact same punishment as Hickman?
A real half hearted attempt at a pass, didn’t see much wrong with Hickmans pass at all.
Take it this is all down to race director Stuart Higgs and BSB politics?
What a load of bollocks!

Yeah was surprised at the punishment for Bridewell when his overtake was far worse visually than Hickmans. I can see where he’s coming from with that statement but his overtake imo doesn’t give him the right to say that, his overtake was pretty shit and not clean at all, he barely made it alongside let alone ahead unlike what Hicky did.

I love Bridewell, I’d love to see him win the championship and said that at the start but I feel Ray is too strong. Last year when he was still in with a mathematical chance of winning I was gutted at Brands when Taz mugged him at the end of each race. Felt strange being down at Brands, Scottish and shouting for Bridewell.

And breathe, what a days racing, absolute fucking madness best describes it.

Need to keep the sacred showdown going, punish Bridewell too much and the championship could be over before the Brands cash cow, it’s bollox tbh

O’Halloran seemed ok to ride in the last race I assume they ran out of spares to build his bike back up?
