New old calipers

I got a press release in the inbox just now. Apparently, "new from TRK braking are two brake calipers that are an authentic reproduction of the original parts. These TRK calipers will give a classic motorcycle a really original look and are made to fit the most popular and desirable motorcycles of the seventies."

And these bikes include the Honda CB 250 G5, CJ 250 T. the 360s, 400 and 500 fours and the CB 550 F and Ks. Some early Yams also have an option.

Some of those might have been popular at the time but I'm not sure they were entirely desirable!

I just hope they don't offer 'really original' performance too :wtf:

They should offer stock low friction stainless discs with built in wet lag and some NOS original jap plastic tyres too,for that authentic 70s vibe.

I am an old fart ok!
I remember vividly the first time I used my brakes in anger in the wet after fitting some new fangled ebc pads to my Honda 500T.
This was swiftly followed by the first time I lost the front end on the brakes, followed even more swiftly by a totally flukey save!

Sounds like the first time I tried the tls on the b25ss after the cable got lubed (whodathunk!)

I'm too old to remember what the disc on my GT185 was like, but I think it's safe to say it was shit.

I had an old CB250N.

The brake was rubbish and nothing I could do would take the sponginess from the lever. I replaced the front hose with a braided steel line but the lever was still spongy. In desperation I looked down the brake line from above to see if it was swelling, it was not. The problem was that the front calliper, even with moderate pressure, was visibly spreading.

Those brakes were a MAJOR improvement on the old pivoting calipers fitted to the likes of my 400-4!! :)
