Since I bought my SV650 I started to use the SV forums & the issue with the SV1000 is the rotor magnets detatching & causing catastrophic engine failure.
The owners in the know rebond them before they detatch, apparently there's no prior warning before they detatch....
Ah, the old GPz500 achilles heel.
Mine pulled that trick on me at only just over 45k at 80-ish on the way down to the training school one morning. Engine locked solid. And I'd just spent cash on having the cam chain replaced.
Fortunately, I'd just discovered that the GS500 I thought had blown up a couple of years earlier had actually stopped due to diesel contamination in the fuel. I had refilled it at the end of the training day and got about a mile up the road before it stopped in a cloud of smoke.
I bought the GPz a day or two later.
I realised why the Suzuki had conked out when I drained the full tank and filled up the empty GPz... it did the same a mile later. The filling station must have cross-contaminated their tanks with a new delivery as it was the same pump I'd filled the training bikes from about 2 hours earlier, and they were fine.
