Good luck to him - maybe he took advantage of one of the rare occasions he can be out in public without being mobbed so that he could be a normal person for once.Yorick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 6:34 pm David Beckham and other stars queued for 12 hours to see the Queen in state.
Not just the fact that he waited 12 hours. But that he didn't try to get his influence to jump the queue.
No doubt idiots will still find something wrong with this.

Fair play to him Lady here was just saying “Phil & Holly” also went but did jump the queue? Dunno if that’s true or not?!Yorick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 11:11 pmI meant the fact that he queued 12 hours and didn't try to jump the queue.Felix wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 10:54 pmThe man can do whatever he wants just as the next man can. The first snow post summer!
Annoyingly I didn't get out early enough to see snow actually by mine (well a tiny bit on some shady grass!) but damn, just seeing snow on the mountains from my window and the ones in resort just makes me grin like a serious grinny thing
From my window
Just a bit up the road
SNOW ON THE GROUND
Becoin to the right, Verdons to the left
The Grand Rochette is second from left - the three on the right, Rochette, Verdons and Becoin are the ones I want to be able to walk up (On the piste, so won't get to the top of Becoin) in the winter to ski down for morning coffee

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Finally getting around to replacing Gremlinette's en-suite shower. Not because I'm a caring dad, but because she's been using the family bathroom for a couple of weeks and started leaving it a bloody tip like her en-suite was/is/always will be.
She's managed to break her toilet seat as well. How do you break a toilet seat when you weigh about seven stone in a wet donkey jacket?
Teenagers...drive you fucking mad.

Last checkin of the season yesterday, followed by a couple celebratory beers and a couple celebratory rums, then home for more rum. Arranged to meet a friend at a local Fete, I wasn't expecting much but then this happened.....
and this
danced myself sober-ish

Meal out last night with wife, daughter & boyfriend, and my mum & dad for Elise's 21st, followed by a few drinks in a few pubs after my oldies decided to call it a night.
Much fun was had, too many drinks were consumed, far too much money was spent, but it was an epic night enjoyed by all

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
This one was actually a couple of weeks ago but I had a bit of a wildlife day.
Walking the dog in the morning I saw a kingfisher flying up the river, went to work then on my way back had a look at a walk over a viaduct and on my way back a deer was just chillin in someones large garden about 10 feet away from me.
Then driving home I saw a Peregrine Falcon near the road and when I was taking the dog out last thing (which nowadays for me is about 9pm, yay thats early starts for you) there was a bat fluttering about.
So, a kingfisher, a deer, peregrine falcon and some type of bat, not a bad day considering I wasn't doing much out of the ordinary.
The bat is pretty standard to see at that time of night so I've seen it many times and I see deer often enough but I've not seen the kingfisher often.

Who says altitude makes it difficult to bake things that need to rise
Nice bit of Toad in the Hole. Was going to make a big one and share with a mate, but he has family stuff to do so can't make it. So made a couple of small ones to drop one down to him
The bigger of the three had too much batter as it's a bit stodgy but still tastes good
Wonder how well it will freeze!! LOL

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
My wife, generally speaking, is of a quite placid nature, if a little short tempered. But, these last few years she has suffered from menopause and has turned into hair-triggered, fiery tempered, lunatic. It isn't funny and has nearly cost us our 30 year marriage. Anyway, a variety of changes in meds has seen us almost on an even keel again until the last few months...
Yesterday, she had too much to drink and her emotions kicked in and she was pretty unbearable to put it mildly. I can't even leave for a couple of hours because of my spastimacted knee. So, after heated exchanges last night, I said to her this morning, in non negotiable terms, don't go into work and you've rang the Doctors and made an appointment for a review, despite knowing that GP appointments are almost impossible to get.
So, the wife spends just over 30 minutes on the phone before finally getting through and says to the receptionist, "Can I make an appointment with any Doctor as quick as possible please"?
The receptionist replies, "Can I ask the nature of the appointment"?
My wife replies in lowered tones, "Menopause, before I kill someone"!
Receptionist laughs, and says, "Oh I know that feeling, can you get for 11:10"!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
My wife was stuck in the Menopause for years as her doctor recused to give HRT saying it plays havoc with her mental health meds. He is now semi retired and she was allocated a new doctor. When asking about HRT and wife telling her about what last doctor said she wat told "What a lot of shite" OK she never said shite but a prescription later she was given HTR patches and now gets glue circles round her arse and hips. Ill put up with that is she a such a less irritable little angel now.
She was also on an extra strong painkiller (I think Gabapentin) She was told if pain gets really bad take a couple of Co-codamol between what she was. Spent weeks in pain and getting nowhere only for the new doc to tell her a Co-codamol ingredient cancels out a Gabapentin ingredient making it next to useless. Changed the Co-codamol and now a lot less pain. Probably still wants new hips but the wait to get diagnosed is a lot more bearable.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
TBF, I've not had the 'rage' symptom at all. But I have heard about it, and if the receptionist knows the feeling she knows that giving an appointment in 2 weeks probably would result in murder!! LOL
@Felix - I had an issue with my original GP, old fashioned, old and worse, French! If I'd had a husband that was 'suffering', then he'd have been more helpful!! Ridiculous though it sounds, a lot of women out here use the symptom of sex being painful so non existant or moods meaning their husband is suffering to actually get older (usually male) doctors to listen to them. Which sux, but at least we know how to get past the chauvanism!! LOL LOL
Luckily the younger GP up here is more understanding
