Bol D'Or

This weekend is the 100th Bol D'Or, it'll be on Eurosport and Discovery Plus, and I'll be watching.

At 55 I shouldn't be excited about watching a motorcycle race on the telly, but I am.

I don't know if I'd want to actually go or not, it's a long way on boring roads, I can't really be arsed with flying, and it's nice and comfy watching it on the telly, but the experience of being there is pretty cool.

If you look a Paul Ricard on google maps all the corners are named as poi's. Which is nice.

I checked Cadwell, no poi's. I wonder how you add them.

You can 'add a missing place' on google maps, if you're very bored.

I've just tried adding Knickerbrook to Oulton but google rejected it.

Yeah, I've added a few at Cadwell. I didn't get a rejection, but they don't appear.

I wonder if the google account that claimed Cadwell has to approve them first?

I went once back in the 80’s from Glasgow. Rode there and back as fast as the R100 Beemer courier piece of shit I owned at the time would go. Couple off other mates on their CX500 work bikes too. Amused ourselves on the way there trying to hit kill switches and muck keys while on the A routes. Racing was good till a biblical rain storm and flooded track meant for the only time in its history the race was abandoned….. rode all the way in pissing rain too

Didn’t bother again after that but do like to watch on telly …… I’ll try and set it to record as currently in Spain

I wonder if teams are running lean mixtures to try and reduce put stops, and this is causing either holed pistons or burnt out valves.

The Ducati is currently in 4th, but it drinks petrol, this could work in their favour.

That will be the engine that Sylvain proudly showed on Eurosport (clip shown on BT Sport MotoGP programme)? They're only about 50 laps down on th leaders ar time of writing...

That would seem a bit amateur, I'd have thought they can monitor and manage temperatures pretty well? I.e. adjust the mix on the fly before if actually breaks anything...or are they not allowed to adjust maps "live".
