Extraordinary footage of the Queens cortege heading down the A40 with no others cars on it, but people all along the route clapping and filming etc.

Meanwhile, Charles is laying off his household staff. Hope they dont have any blank sheets, live rounds or misfires of paper in their possession.

It's one thing having a couple of cars, or a few bikes in the shed ...

Too late. One of Charlie's first acts was to make Wills PoW. It has annoyed many Welsh people, including this oneDefTrap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:36 am
I'm slightly persuaded that the 'Prince of Wales' title should not be passed to William. The title seems to unnecessarily wind the Welsh up - despite Charles spending pretty much a lifetime trying to win them over, I don't get the feeling it was ever an entirely comfortable arrangement. Probably best to let that one lapse.

Is it traditional or just this once?Druid wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:15 pmToo late. One of Charlie's first acts was to make Wills PoW. It has annoyed many Welsh people, including this oneDefTrap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:36 am

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
It's a long-standing tradition and I suspect the people complaining are the Welsh nationalists that like to pretend everyone shares their views.Yorick wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:59 pmIs it traditional or just this once?Druid wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:15 pmToo late. Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
It's a long-standing tradition that unnecessarily reminds the Welsh that the English crushed their independence and stole the name of PoW for the firstborn male. I think you're correct that not everybody (in Wales) agrees - there must be plenty of Royalists who have always thought Charles did a right fine job over 50 years.
I just wondered whether that it might be the right time to let it lapse.

I didn't think Wales was ever one nation, I thought it was the English that created it.

Offa's Dyke is the boundary between the kingdoms of Mercia and Powys, so there was definitely something there. I'll do a bit of googling later, Spanish revision first though.

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
Edward I created the principality of Wales and the title to go with it so the Prince of Wales has been around as long as Wales has.
Maybe Plaid Cymru wants Wales split into its historic parts?

Maybe the Welsh should have fought a bit harder if they wanted to choose their own royalty, same goes for the Scottish.

That's the odd bit about Jock's complaining about the union, they created it.slowsider wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:15 pmCough... It's not the fault of the English that he left Scotland.

A once in a lifetime opportunity - for blocking.
I'm tempted to get down there and join the queue, then when I get in the room with the corpse, feign some sort of funny turn. The blocking would be immense.
