Just watching the Man utd footy match.
The minute's silence was perfectly observed.

Didn't know about this, but very sad to see his passing. And Don McCullin has always been my absolute favourite photographer. Whether he's in a war zone or on the Somerset levels, his photos have an intensity that no-one else can match. I saw an exhibition of his in Perpignan that covered 3 or 4 large rooms - hundreds of photos in all - and every single image made you think and held your attention. I particularly remember the one of the shell shocked marine with the thousand yard stare.Noggin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:56 amI hate the reason for the war photographs/photographers. But the emotion and stories that each photo shows are often incredible. Don McCullin is another. His photos made a massive impact on me at college. Sadly, family pressure and lack of tutor support meant I never studied photography - let alone got to do 'social' photography (I'm not daft enough to think I could ever get to do war photography)slowsider wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 8:14 am Tim Page, war photographer

Their lives would have been impacted as much as (if not more) than many of the military as they saw different things and often were famous for images that affected them more than anyone could know
RIP Mr Page
They don't make 'em like that any more.

It would seem so at 76 and still looking healthy. He made the old grey whistle test worth watching as much as the music.

They just played that on R3.
He was one of those players with a style that was instantly recognisable. *Plinketyplink*....'That's Ramsey Lewis'.
Lots of people will have heard him even if they haven't heard of him.
