As some may have seen, i was considering this 1290 the other day, so made sense to take a lunchtime jaunt on it.
So here's the review.
It was shit.

It was shit.
1. It was orange
2. It was stable.
That's about it... It vibrated more than the 690... yes really. It grunted well enough, but it was so slow and sluggish to turn that you couldn't do anything with it to get it out of corners etc. The throttle response was lazy and detached, it was smooth enough delivery, but it wasn't instant etc.
Seat wasn't particularly comfortable either....
Shit may be a harsh term.... but i'm struggling to think of a bike i've test ridden and liked less.

Was the steering damper wound up to full and the throttle mapping on rain?

Was in street mode... Dont get me wrong, it got a move on.... but not in a partcicularly inspiring way, nothing that made me think "wow"..dern wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 2:07 pmSounds like a different bike entirely to my 1190weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:54 pm Honestly... apart from i guess 2 things, there was nothing redeeming about it.

I honestly got more of a wow opening up the 690 on the way home, despite the fact it was probably going slower and taking longer to reach the same speed.

It's funny people knock the GSXS cos it's an IL4 but it's absolutely fucking brilliant. Shove everywhere so it's fun at real world speeds and absolutely bonkers if you want to do that. Handles well, comfy, well built, looks decent. People can keep their character, £1k services and moody gadgets issues

I took my GSXR1100 to the MOT a couple of weeks back, first time I'd ridden it this year.Supermofo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 4:24 pmIt's funny people knock the GSXS cos it's an IL4 but it's absolutely fucking brilliant. Damn it was smooth and made power everywhere, like a giant twist and go.
My R1200GS LC chugs and shakes if the revs drops below 3k.... I don't think my Enfield goes above 3k
