God save our gracious Queen
What a remarkable woman she was.
I sincerely hope King Charles is able to step up to the role. One assumes he will have to put aside some of his previous campaigns.

Yep, William takes over responsibility for The Duchy of Cornwall and Charles formally resigns from all his positions in Charitable (and presumably any other) organisations.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:53 pm One assumes he will have to put aside some of his previous campaigns.

Re: God save our gracious Queen
Then again the Queen was probably patron of more charities, institutions and societies than anyone else? So presumably Charles III is gonna pick up a few patronages...

Watching Spanish news, apparently Queen Isobel II has died too and Carlos III is taking over.

More than 300 official engagements king Charles did last year, similarly Anne. They certainly don't sit about, must be exhausting.

Indeed.
The initial post was of course pointless.

They all do about 300 official engagements a year? Sounds like a cartel to me.

They're all pretty busy really
Interesting, for me anyway, how much of the work needs to be spread around. You'd expect Williams workload to ramp up considerably now as presumably he has to take on a shedload more of different responsibilities

Re: God save our gracious Queen
Maybe a daft question. When an entity wants a royal attendance, is there a fee payable?
Seems fair.

And why is there only one Royal Family?
Why is there only one Monopolies Commission?

Do we really want a monarch that is so down-with-the-people that they arrive to engagements on the overnight MegaBus and packed their own sandwiches?slowsider wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:48 pm

I'm not expecting you to answer that.
I don't think we'd have a monarchy very long if the new King needed to consider letting Buckingham Palace to a grubby celebrity, just to make ends meet.

I read somewhere he's thinking of moving out to Clarence House and leaving Buck house to the tourists...DefTrap wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 2:17 pmDo we really want a monarch that is so down-with-the-people that they arrive to engagements on the overnight MegaBus and packed their own sandwiches?slowsider wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:48 pm
