Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
Just watched the proclamation in Edinburgh. When they did 3 cheers for the King, someone booed with every hooray!

To be applauded if only for the novelty of being a proper, live protest and not the de rigeur internets shouting. And also because presumably it wasn't very well received.

How odd. The Herse that left Balmoral with the queen in it you could clearly see the funeral directors logo William Purves sticker on the side glass but when that reached Edinburgh it was gone.

"By the time the Queen's coffin had arrived in the Scottish capital, to thousands of mourners lining the streets, the logo had been removed from the window. The undertaker's said it took the 'first opportunity' to 'redirect' attention towards the late Queen".

I notice a few papers today mentioned it also. I did think it was a bit off advertising at a funeral no mater how small the logo is.Taipan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 10:03 am"By the time the Queen's coffin had arrived in the Scottish capital, to thousands of mourners lining the streets, the logo had been removed from the window. 9-11 conspiracy theorist and covid-denier - so on board with it that she chalks it up in the shop window, so you can expand your mind while you eat your chips. Not a huge surprise that she's fully on board with the royal lizards things.Felix wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 12:23 am Shit another Buckie nutter

Love the idea of a copper arguing with a barrister on the finer points of the law.

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
Seems like an attention seeker - could have done that early last week before there was a sniff of the Queen's illness and everyone would have just ignored him. I'm not hugely in favour of entitled nob jockeys whinging at exasperated policeman trying to do their jobs - it's the wrong people to complain to and you're just wasting everyone's time - you may as well start a fight with a supermarket checkout girl because you don't like Tesco policy. Free speech is the right to waste a policeman's time and not have him immediately kick your teeth in.slowsider wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 9:07 am

I'm slightly persuaded that the 'Prince of Wales' title should not be passed to William. The title seems to unnecessarily wind the Welsh up - despite Charles spending pretty much a lifetime trying to win them over, I don't get the feeling it was ever an entirely comfortable arrangement. Probably best to let that one lapse.

That seems to be a reversal of fact - why was that the policeman's job at all?DefTrap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:36 amSeems like an attention seeker - could have done that early last week before there was a sniff of the Queen's illness and everyone would have just ignored him. Preventing him causing a breach of the peace and potentially getting his head kicked in? Seems like a more reasonable use of his time than allowing it to happen.
Not that I think barrister boy intended to do anything other than not do what he said he intended to do, just so he could post about it.

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
There's a distinct difference between those two and the lawyer failed to get the response he wanted, he had to make do with a non story.slowsider wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 9:07 amYou couldn't make it up

And the Welsh woman in the first article should learn what a colony is before complaining about them.
