Went to the Mrs mate's for BBQ on Sunday. Her husband got back into biking after 20 years due to needing to commute into London a year or 2 back. He was keen to show me his bike, a 1290 Super Adventure. Very nice it was too, looked good and packed full of tech Inc front/rear heated seats, heated grips, leccy suspension, modes, cruise control, cornering lights etc.

He then turned on the ignition to show me the dash, which was when I saw the 85k miles Got to say it definitely wore its miles well and he'd had no issues. Turns out he bought it with 50k on and has done 35k in just over a year. Not that unusual I know but fairly unusual with most of us. And a different KTM story for a change, must say I've read of a few high mile KTM Adv

Matey popped over Sat for a family visit and his Super Adventure now has 101k miles on it! He stuck a photo up on his facebook group when it hit 100k and he got a message back from an Italian with 300k KM on his

I'm amazed. My impression of KTM is sometimes they make it out of warranty before it all goes wrong,but not always.

MCN have had a lot of issues with theirs in the short time they have them. Always seem to be gadget issues mainly. On the big bikes I don't think I've ever heard of engine issues. I personally know of Weeksy's SD with 50k miles, my mates 990 SMT with 40k, another mates 1190 Adv with 35k and this matey with 101k.

I'm most impressed the SA leccy gadgets still all work and it has a lot of them.

I asked that as my 690 used a little bit and he said he bought some Motrex when he bought the bike cos he'd heard about oil use and he's never had to open the bottle as it's not used a drop. My mates 1190 doesn't either.

I think that litre per 1k km is standard for a few things, my brothers Audi S6 uses at least that and he always has a oil bottle in the boot!

I wouldn't worry in the slightest about the ADV of any generation, from the 990, 1050, 1090, 1190 or 1290, they run forever if looked after.

35,000 is a massive figure lol.... i can't compute spending that much time in/on a vehicle.

As my arse has had enough after 100 miles, it's not so much the mileage that is impressive but the thought of the 850 times climbing on and off ..

My 1190 doesn't use any either but it's only got 25k on it.

Highest I ever took a bike was from new to 40k and then sold it as it started to suffer electrical issues. That was a 2000 929 fireblade that I used to commute on.

My 2011 Fireblade has 52000 on it now.

My Bandit has 128 or 129k on it, my old GPZ5 has 112k on it and is still about. Of my current riders, my GS has 65k, the Pan has 94k and the K12 has 38k.

High mileage is fine with maintenance.

I'm thinking of making my Tiger 800 a high miler. Shes got 58,000 on now but I'm in half a mind to go for something a little bit more punchy. I was really struggling to keep up with Mates multistrada and R1200RS in the Pyrenees. GOt a bit of an itch for an SMT990...

The 990 pushes out 116 bhp apparently, as opposed to just over 90bhp for the triumph, should be much more punchy than the triple too. Its no more heavy and has a 17" front.
Its just an idle thought at this stage though.

The 950 Multistrada is 113ish, but you get all the electrical toys.
