Charles the III? Not a very good start if he's ill already.

That's an old Les Dawson joke the wrong way round.Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 1:23 pm Charles the III? Not a very good start if he's ill already.

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
As i don't think the Monarchy makes any difference to our everyday lives (unfortunately) in reality i don't really care who the next Monarch is, but i suppose people looking in need to see someone who isn't a nonce!
Got my hair cut in the ghetto as usual today and everyone was inevitably talking about Liz. Mostly negative!
IMO she probably did bring a bit of money in via tourism and was a figure head of our country so the news did sadden me, but what did she acaually do except live a privileged life and wave a bit?

You dont want to be suffering depression listening to all this melancholy on the radio. I think every channel Bauer Radio own are the same.

I was told in barbers today that the radios have been told they cant play anything upbeat for a month or something...wtf! Surely people need positive music in dark times, THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF MUSIC!

No it isn't.
e.g. "Elegy" (French: élégie) may denote a type of musical work, usually of a sad or somber nature.
Even bland can be a type of character

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
Maybe i should of said 'Thats the whole point of the music i produce'!
But music is uplifting for me. When i'm down music always makes me feel better!

Just watched the King's speech coz it's part of history.
I remember at junior school we all went into the school hall to watch his investiture as Prince of Wales.

Was that when they used to have separate girls and boys schools...
What i was getting at is the world moves fast, things change, peoples opinions of the world and who they respect change!

What was the Queen's speech like when she took over from her father in 1952?

Aha. Yes.
And it was a mixed class.
And less than 2 weeks earlier we watched man land on the moon.

Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
Like music can be reduced to 'a point'.
Probably the best selling contemporary classical record is a 'Symphony of Sorrowful Songs'. It's not a barrel of laughs, it doesn't have a thudding backbeat, there are no samples and the singer is from Nashville....but it's as uplifting as a pair of helium filled underpants.

Don't get me wrong i love ambient stuff too. FSOL, Oribital, Pete Namlook, Plastikman, The Orb, Brian Eno to name a few have big influences on the music i write.Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:32 pmLike music can be reduced to 'a point'.

Let's just not reduce the radio stations etc to depressing music, please Trussy, please let us have some positivity! lol
Re: HM the Queen on her way out?
It's happened all rather suddenly. I've found myself so busy, that I missed most of what went on yesterday, but I was listening to the radio on Thursday when we heard the sad news. The Coronation will be a historical event indeed.
