Recommend me some waterproof boots?
I suppose i'll need some waterproof boots for winter. I'll check the loft-of-plenty first, but should it fail to deliver, what's good? Just looking for a reasonably priced pair of waterproof boots. Do they even still do Sidi Rain boots?

Re: Recommend me some waterproof boots?
I used to have some sidi rain boots but they leaked badly. Altbergs are definitely waterproof but I found mine so unwieldily that I never used them.
I've currently got some waterproof tractech boots and they've never leaked but not sure how warm they would be in winter, not very I suspect.
I've also got some forma adventure boots which won't be any good on a sports bike but I've ridden through rivers in these and very heavy rain and they never leak unless it comes in the top. They're also very very comfortable and warm. For £150 they're an absolute bargain.

What's good is usually Gore-Tex. But what's your budget?
Also, are your feet wide, regular or broad? And how important is protection (anti-twist ankle protection, CE protection levels, etc.)?
If you like Sidi (narrow feet?), the Sidi Performer Gore-Tex boots could be worth trying. However, I reckon Sidi's quality declined compared to today's Dainese and Alpinestars boots.

Re: Recommend me some waterproof boots?
In the spirit of these are what I have - As per my answer to LGF although he was asking about vented boots.
I don't ride in the rain but these are Goretex and reviews suggest they should be fully WP. They are super comfy to wear but I'd argue they don't fit the 'reasonable' cost depending on your budget. Being vented they might be crap in winter although I've found them fine at 3C. Who knows at -3C as I'll be in the car at that point

Re: Recommend me some waterproof boots?
My mate has them, they look really good but too chunky for my style of bike so I didn't get them at last boot trying time but otherwise they look great boots.dern wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:05 am I've also got some forma adventure boots which won't be any good on a sports bike but I've ridden through rivers in these and very heavy rain and they never leak unless it comes in the top. Daytona. Can be (compared to 'race' styles) a bit big and clumpy, but keep feet warm, dry and protected. But £££.

I don't purposely ride in the rain, but it's the UK and sometimes I get caught out. These work well on crisp Winter days and hot Summer days. Very comfy and can be bought in a wide fitting, which is great for me.

Seconded - they have a good range of Goretex (GTX) boots in different styles.Horse wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:21 am Daytona. Can be (compared to 'race' styles) a bit big and clumpy, but keep feet warm, dry and protected. But £££.

Hmm, you've jogged my memory there. IIRC my last rains weren't as good as the previous ones?Hot_Air wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:08 am What's good is usually Gore-Tex. But what's your budget?

Budget wise I was hoping for c£200, but could pay more if needed.

Re: Recommend me some waterproof boots?
Yes they don't look very warm, but a nice slim boot. I have chunky waterproof boots, but wanted a slimer profile boot really, hence why Altbergs aren't a consideration, despite their reputation.Supermofo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:17 am In the spirit of these are what I have - As per my answer to LGF although he was asking about vented boots.

Altberg are great boots and will last for years, but you'll probably find that if you order them now you'll get them for Christmas.
Because of the lead time of 12 weeks (if I was lucky) I landed up with a pair of sidi mid adventure 2. Gore Tex and comfy for daily commuting

+1 for Daytona Road Star. I'm on my 2nd pair in 25 years. I look after them, Renapur etc, and both pairs have been resoled at least once, but both are still comfy and waterproof after big mileage. Less than £300 is a good price.

Re: Recommend me some waterproof boots?
While Daytona’s quality is legendary, their fit is broad. Taipan had Sidi boots, and Sidi fits somewhat narrower feet.
Dianese Sport Master boots are Gore-Tex, fit brilliantly inside any trouser leg, incredibly comfy and have excellent anti-twist protection. Usually, they’re over your budget (currently £287 on SportsBikeShop). But you might find them cheaper on eBay? Sidi and Dainese should have a relatively similar (Italian) fit.
