It was my favourite thing about marshalling at the Manx GP - stick your fingers in your ears and take a DEEEEEEP breath as the bikes flew by :D :D :D

Well, that and looking at all the AWESOME old bikes there :D

I used to go to all the 2-stroke scrambler racing over the dunes at WSM and loved it as a kid. Sure i used to get proper buzzed off the fumes lol.

I also remember going there when i was about 17/18 and it so wet they called the races off, so we went on a mental pub crawl, we had such a good time we just continued doing the pub crawls rather than go see the racing lol. That was probs about 1997!

I needed to buy a couple of text books for my son. I don't like Amazon business practices so looked for other book sellers, the first one just turned up - from Amazon. :silent:

Kids running through traffic not looking.

Had to pull up really, really sharp today when a girl aged about 14 just ran between stationary cars as I was filtering. Just stopped in time, although she didn't and ran into my front wheel a bit, then jumped in the car to my right which I assume had just seen her and offered a lift. In fairness she did shout out 'Sorry!' as she got in the car. I carried on: no harm, no foul.

Shat the life out of me,mind. My arse is still twitching like a rabbit's nose at the memory of it.

I once hit a kid who ran out between the queuing cars in the other direction. Was doing about 50. He smashed the windscreen but survived. I hit him mid stride.
Car was brand new 1 hour earlier.

The Phrase "Too hot to handle" on facebook posts about stolen bikes

Reason 1 Some poor sod has had his bike(s) nicked
Reason 2 Sorry, but your little facebook post isn't going to intimidate professional bike thieves !

Six hours editing a Word document.

Images, cropped, titled.
Styles, formatting, tables, cross references.

The fuggin lot.

Checked, read back, edited to tidy.

Uploaded to the server. Well, the version from 5:30 did ...

The recent NHS pay rise is actually a pay cut for many, particularly those on the fringes of increased pension contributions.

I will be receiving a pay rise at the end of the month, back dated to April. It’s 1% and I can’t really get too animated about that as there are many far worse off.

However, if you are of a certain banding/rank, then you’ll end up owing money. A ‘Band 8a’ receiving the pay rise will tip them in to a higher bracket for pension contributions, so at the end of this month they’ll actually have a £200 pay cut. That’s rough.

To try and offset all of the pay awards, our pension contributions have been cut from next year. Mine will go down from 13.5% to 12.5%.

So I’m annoyed for those who’ll really be disadvantaged by this, although many outside the tent will still posture about at least you’re getting a raise type stuff

The whole thing is a disgrace. AFAIA NHS workers haven't had a raise in line with inflation ever !

No criticism from me on that. As a life long Tory voter I’m more than ready to jump ship or abstain from future votes.

I alawsys believed in trickle down economics. The rich do well and oikes like me keep a job and steady pay. But I’ve long since lost faith in that. Wealth divide continues to grow and places like the public sector get proper shafted in real terms.

It was the bleating entitlement of the left that put me off of even listening to them tbh. Never rational point raising, just rabidTory hating!

But, Since my Union saved my bacon I started reading the newsletters and couldn’t help but think. Fuck, I’ve been had! Not exactly keeping the red flag flying, but I am at least listening now…

Like Taipan I started as a True Blue voter and over the years being at grassroot level and earning at that level I have see the erosion of rights and benefits of those in dire need of support. As now in an ecclesiastical role and get access to people and places previously difficult to view and there is much blame to be laid at this current governments feet. Not that Labour have not bolloxed things up, but the fact that people need Unions tells the story more truly than anything else. If it was a fair structure of economics, unions would fail instantly because there would be no need for them.

A social grouping offering mutual support? You think there'd be no need for something like that?

If it was a fair structure of economics it wouldn't be capitalism.

Also, unions come in many guises, they aren't all left wing representatives of horny-handed sons of toil. The BMA, NFU etc aren't exactly Trotskyist power bases. :D
