I take it as you can have an instant mistrust of someone and you're wise to pay attention to that feeling.

I don't.

But I did read about a US study of university lecturers.

People were shown short video clips and had to decide whether they thought someone was a good lecturer. People were making their mind up after three seconds.

they came to the same conclusions as other people that had known the subjects in the video for a year and regularly interacted with them.

I'd forgotten that - fairly important - bit!
