Battery swap question
Looks like the yuans battery on my MT09 has had it as it only has 9.1v after being in an optimists all night? I have a motivate here From my nc750 which is more powerful and will fit in there okay. They have the same cc’s at 190 but the motivate is 11.2ah as opposed to the yuasas 9.1sh. That won’t be a problem will it?

Re: Battery swap question
Does the Motobatt have a charging rate on it? Can't see any reason it won't be if it charges OK on the bike. Could be better than the Yuasa.

Re: Battery swap question
Well that went well- not! Just went out to check it starts and nothing. Zilch. No lights or anything. Stuck the meter on the battery and 0 volts! WTAF! I was using the bike fine until few weeks back and its gone wrong since being parked up!

Re: Battery swap question
What's the fuse for wired directly to the battery, heated grips?
Disconnect everything apart from the proper bike loom connections, charge it up and try again tomorrow.

Exactly what I'm going to do! I thought that fused wire looked like an optimate lead but cant see where it goes to or comes out? Thought the grips would have been wired into the loom but now I'm wondering. Will find out tomorrow! If it doesn't work, toys will be lobbed and a new bike thread will be appearing shortly!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:43 pm What's the fuse for wired directly to the battery, heated grips?

Re: Battery swap question
KFB you were correctomundo. That lead was a permanant live to the heated grips! Quite WTF someone would od that when there is a OEM lead available for that purpose is beyond me! Anyway, that's been disconnected and battery charged and its working okay. For now I'll assume I must have inadvertently knocked the grips on, but will know for sure when I find out if it starts tomorrow morning.
I'd like the grips working so will look into getting the adaptor lead and whats involved in wiring it in, but I'll not risk leaving it live. I imagine the lead is a straightforward plug and play affair?

Re: Battery swap question
If there's any space anywhere it's pretty simple to set up a relay so they're only on when the ignition is on, you just need to find a switched live to feed it.
I did it on my auld 'Dero, all the various accessories were wired back to the relay.

Re: Battery swap question
It's pretty weird. The standard Yamaha heated grip kit comes with the lead I have, as they are supposed to have an intelligent cut out to stop it from draining the battery. But there is also a switched outlet on the fusebox designed specifically for the use of Yamaha heated grips, you just need the £15 connector lead. Knowing how Oxford "intelligent" grips flatten your battery if left on I suspect the Yamaha ones are no better, but either way the lead has been ordered from Padgetts and they will be set up using that, regardless if that is the problem or not.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 11:48 am If there's any space anywhere it's pretty simple to set up a relay so they're only on when the ignition is on, you just need to find a switched live to feed it.

Re: Battery swap question
Its been left, a few days but it started fine, so I think it was deffo the leccy grips been knocked on by some idiot! Lead will be here from Padgetts tomorrow so will get them set up with the more sensible, switched loom at the weekend.

Re: Battery swap question
Depending on the amp draw of the grips, is where you are going to wire in your feed.
1a can be wired off the sidelights, 3a off dip feed. Anything more is direct from the battery.
Iirc, the Yamaha aux feed is designed for USB items only
