Fractured scaphoid. Doc was shocked I wasn't in tonnes of pain, but in honesty a bunch of nettles hurts more than the fracture. If I knew 100% it would heal correctly I wouldn't have even bothered going to get it checked, thought I'd better be safe though
Be very careful with the scaphoid, I broke mine and was misdiagnosed as a sprain, two weeks later back to A&E after MTFU failed and the consultant who looked at the X-rays said if he'd seen me initially he'd have put it in plaster and treated as a break as a precaution till the healing bone showed on the X-ray. Roll on 5 months and the bone died and I had to have a bone graft and Herbert screw fitted. Apparently it's got a rubbish blood supply so takes ages to heal.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Yup, similar story for me, have done both my scaphoids, (not at the same time thankfully) and both times was an absolute fucker- as Ming says, it's one of the worst bones you can break in terms of healing time, both times mine weren't right for ages, was limiting and it got really frustrating

The schaphoid is shit to break. I've loads of ex racer pals with problems from them.

Not trying to scare our noble leader, but it's the one to look out for.

Just to add to the positive vibe, scaphoid, 10 month to heal properly. Though I did cut the cast off to try and finish the club championship!

Today I got a kebab injury.

Was hot today and CBA to do the garden work in hot sun, so walked into town for a few cheeky cold ones with pals. All was well and headed to local kebab shop on way home. Amazing chicken wrap. As I got up to leave, huge pain behind right hip.
Painful 20 mins walk home.

Just woke from customary afternoon nap in agony. Bugger.

Stuck on the terrace sofa. Still warm and waiting for ibuprofen to kick in.

Got my roof fixed after leaving it for way too long! Best bit was the guy came round and said to refit and replace some tiles and repair the flashing round the chimney it'd be £300. I agreed and said you owe my Lad a drink as he'd told me to ring you. He said who is your lad and I told him, he said didn't realise it was his place, call it £200 then. It seems it's not what you know but who your Son knows! #proudpop

Got a good look at the critters currently scoffing down Guinea Pig food at the squirrels picnic table in the back yard. Four rats, two big bastards (one gray, one black) & two half size bastards (also one each grey & black). There was a big punch up when #4 arrived for his dinner reservation.
This probably explains the dearth of squirrel sightings over the past week.

No more feeding until the squirrels show up again.

Buy a cheap air rifle and see to them ZRX (your old blunderbusses will be a bit of overkill).

You're all a fucking bundle of joy !

I've done my right hand before, this is the left... It wasn't a straight through break, only a 40% or so fracture through it.

I'm not worried as such because there's sod all i can do about it. I can only sit here with the cast and wait and see where we go from there. It is obviously a little restricting and i feel a bit of a burden as things like washing dishes is impossible... but most stuff i can manage and it's not like i need the hand for work at the moment.

So we'll just get on with things and see how it plays out.

I remember a few folk who raced with a cast on. The hardest thing was fooling the scrutineers ;)

Wasn't there a story about Barry Sheene taking a set of 'ace' bars to get his wrists set at the right angles?

Got one. However, I'd be aiming right at a neighbors house so that's a no-no.

Installed a new built in fridge freezer.

Fixed it into the cabinet, fixed the doors on....good job yes?

Then I noticed one of the fridge shelves wasn’t level. On trying to get it out I found it had been rammed in missing the support but piercing the plastic fridge casing.

So a wasted bloody afternoon and no doubt a world of pain waiting tomorrow when I try to get the unit replaced.

Today I plumbed in my new sooper dooper hose pipe and took a spur off the pipe to enable a pipe outside the garage. And all pipes were buried under the picon, so keeping it all smart. Used about 30m of water pipe to plumb it all in. Now have 3 working hose pipes

Took my wife to A&E. She has had back pain for a few weeks but it escalated last night. I think she may have kidney stones. It felt so wrong just dropping her off and not going in with her. :(
