Zwift is now implementing "auto-cat" to decide which i need to race in and in it's wisdom, it's thrown me into the Bs.

https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=2918951

It went well, right up until the moment it didn't. I should have checked the course layout before entering it i guess. 14km in, it hits a 6% climb... boom, the fastest Bs just disappear and me and 4 others are floundering... I don't know why so few Bs are showing on ZP, we dropped about 15 of them before the hill... Anyway i was sort of hanging in with the others, but it got climby.... i got binned and solo'd to the end ....

Good race, right up until it wasn't... but once the HR hits 177bpm, there's no coming back and i really can't hold it for long.

LOL i wish i was sandbagging.... i think i'll still hold a decent bunch in B, in the right races... but they'll be few and far between.

BIt disappointed in todays race

https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=3003330

was taking on the mighty Bath Salts.... i think of him as a nemesis/rival but i'm not sure he thinks of me the same.

He missed an early split and at one stage i had 1min05s up on him... but then it all shattered and i missed a break with the A/B beasts.... it wouldn't have mattered if i'd made that split though as the A/Bs stayed as a group mostly and never shelled any weaker riders apart from me and a B. Me and him worked well together but Salts was with an A and a B and they were at 3.2-3.4 average and neither me or my oppo could hold and maintain that at this stage... we were losing 7-10s per km to the 4 behind.... We'd been dropped with 14km to go, so the fact we hold on until 2.1km from the end was pretty decent.

As their group caught us Salts pinned it and went at 7+ and gapped the rest of us... he's always had a massive kick that boy.... He then just sat 6s ahead of our new little group of 5 for the remainder.

I'm not hugely disappointed in losing to him, he's one of the best Cs out there... but was disappointed with how many Cs were not on Zwiftpower and therefore i got no ranking points for a hard hard race.

I'm liking the new place partners
Before this update I found that for the 30 minute or so window to use at lunchtime cat D pace partner (1.5) was a bit slow but cat C (2.5) was that bit too much for me. So having the new ones in between is working out pretty good for me, mostly.
Today I hung onto the 2.3 partner for about 25 mins and ended with a decent enough average power.

I did get a comment of the neighbour asking why I was turboing on such a lovely day which is a fair point. I need to retire but I'm far too young 😔

sometimes i just find the turbo works better for a use of time... I did a ride on Wed outdoors, a ride today outdoors, but yesterday i did a Zwift Crit race as it was what my brain needed.

@Crosshair would have been proud of me today

https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=3045695

Race was a points race, first over line each lap gets the most points, 6 times over the line.

Lap1 the group was too big and cruising, so I went 400w and ended up 5s clear, no one came, I laughed as I was expecting 75% of them to come too. I held 300w and suddenly had 10s, so I stayed out there, end of lap 2 I had 23s, then 24s, then it went wrong after the line as 2 guys didn't slow after the sprint and caught and passed me. I caught back again and held till next sprint but again after the line they'd pulled too far and gapped me.

However, it seems I bagged just enough points for the win lol

Well i've had 2 and a half weeks of mostly not riding. 2 fairly gentle ones only. The Covid thing gave me a bit of a battering... But after Sat outdoors being fairly tough at times, i wasn't exactly useless... So today i've got a fair few plans with Silverstone for @Welsh Muffin tomorrow so i'm jumping on the 10.10am race on Zwift... Flat course so suiting my power.... but not sure if this has the small incline that often will kill me off on lap 2. Lets see how we go anyway.

pretty OK... i bailed at the last kicker.. which was my plan anyway. 40 mins with 225w average. Tried a few attacks but no-one went with me so spent time sitting in the bunch at 150w and a few attacks at 350+ but i only got 3-4s and was solo, so was never going to stick unless i took 3-4 other with me.

The hill i went up OK, managed a 181HR up it to sit with the lead group of 10, but as we came down again the group behind closed the 10s to get back in. Just sat in bunch until i called it a day.
