Why ? Once i'm done with it i don't really care what they do with it in honesty. Once the decision was made in my head i completely washed my hands of it. Although i've still got all the paperwork and the seats, so i do have an involvement for a little while.

But whether they fix it perfectly or whether they do a half-arsed job doesn't really bother me any more.

My reading of the situation: You rejected the van as you've lost confidence in it or don't quite trust the dealer. Once you start down the getting it repaired route you're kind of stuck with it however long that process takes with no guarantee of an end point.

But if it's offered for sale again you know what problems it's had and pertinent questions could be asked. That resets the buying, testing and accepting / rejecting process.

I did similar with a van a few years ago, I bought it with the engine management light on and the assurance of a fix, ran it for a few months and the light went off in a torrential down pour. That and a few other things I didn't like about it convinced me to trade it in. It was a Renault and I've not much confidence in Renault's on board diagnostics.

I'm deffo not re-buying it... Whilst it could be a simple fix, my dealings with dealers over the years have shown it to be not always the case. As i say, the worry was that they say "yeah it's fixed" and then we take to Morzine and it dies on it's arse... or even worse it dies afterwards when they've gone past their 30 days and i have left it more than a few days...

We then get into a world of complexity. Same as we would if i'd taken it to my auto-tech mate who disagreed with their diagnosis and then he wants to fix something, that either costs a pile of cash or they then wash their hands of it as someone else has messed with it. Neither scenario sits well with me . You know me by now, i just like things simple, done, sorted and dealt with.
If dealer had said "we'll take it to Mercedes for the parts, it'll be 100%, if not then you have full comeback" i'd still be in on the Vito... but they didn't make me feel that.

Road tax seems be be a bit hit or miss.
My 2.1 c class is 160 quid a year.
Wifes 2.1 a class is 20 quid a year.
Both same engines, c class 2012, a class 2017
My 2005 Ducato lwb high top van is 2.8, 260 quid a year.

Well i don't know if it's the end.... but it's certainly a happy day...

Car collected and driven home.... it's smooth, nice, comfy, DAB works lovely...

If i'm being picky i'd say it's not the fastest on the planet.... but did get over 50mpg on way back.

It's also a bit body-rolly on the back lanes..... but hey, it's an SUV, not a 911.

Overall though, it's very much a win

No, the Qashqai was both too small and was a diesel. This is bigger and a petrol.. Which was how the conversation started, before we side-swiped it all and went vanways....

Spent last night playing with audio system and irritating myself...

It seems the Kuga is a Sync 1.1 and that has cable based compatibility for various App like Spotify on Android. Apart from the fact the discontinued Spotify support, so it doesn't work. Works on the wifes iPhone, but not on my Android. I even managed to update it to the latest version of the Ford Sync software via USB but still no.

Obviously Spotify isn't a deal breaker but if i get matey to throw in that Pioneer head unit, i also get full Sat Nav via Google Maps or Waze then as well as Spotify integration etc.

All I ever wanted was a radio

My Porsche had all sorts of fancy electrical nonsense and it used to drive me mad, it was like having a laptop on the dash when all I wanted was radio 4.

FOr most of the time the DAB will honestly do me. The trip to Alps on Thurs obviously over the water we won't get UK DAB, but as the missus is coming then it doesn't actually matter as her phone works, so she can play all her associated tunes anyway.

My car doesn't do the Android connect thing but does the Apple thing. But Spotify works fine by BT with Android. You just have to pick the toons on the phone. (It has GPS/mapping and DAB built in). It's fine.

We've got a Nissan Leaf at work, all I want it to do is go forwards, backwards and round corners, feck knows what the dash is telling me, it's information overload, all I need to know is how fast I'm going, how much range it has and if anything is broken.
